Biographical
The heir to House Felstar and all it contains, Kylin has spent the past several years assisting his father in strengthening the house's myriad of resources along with the strong familial bonds therein. He's also recently trained himself rigorously in magical combat and even physical combat, primarily under the tutelage of Vertigo Felstar. His primary job involves overseeing excavation projects taken up by the family business.
Name
Full Name: Kylin Felstar
Nicknames: Ky
Pronunciation: Ky-lin Fell-star
Origins: Kylin is a foreign name handpicked by his late mother before her subsequent death resulting from Kylin's birth. The name was never used officially at first. Originally, Kylin was named 'Castiel' by his father. Names that ended in '-iel' and '-us' were commonplace in House Mavanix and the name 'Castiel' followed that tradition. It wasn't until just before the decline and fall of House Mavanix that Castiel officially changed his name to Kylin in memory of his mother's wishes.
In the real world, Kylin is another form of "Kirin" and "Qilin." It is a mythological chimera from East Asian cultures. It's considered one of the "four divine creatures," along with the phoenix, turtle, and dragon.
Appearance
Stormguard Tattoo on Kylin's back
Height: ~5' 10"
Weight: ~172 lbs
Body: Very well toned, his muscles more defined than ever before. Though still not as bulky as a highlander, Ky puts a tremendous amount of attention into his appearance and his recent physical training is quite evident.
Hair: Pale blond, straight
Eyes: Bright blue
Skin: Olive tan, smooth, no scars
Clothing: Kylin is most often seen in cloth, but it's not entirely uncommon to see him in leather nowadays. He is never seen in heavy armor.
Marks: Kylin has a single tattoo on his right shoulder blade, a mark of the Order of Stormguard.
History
Kylin grew up as an only child under his father's care, originally named "Castiel." He would later change his name to his mother's preferred name, Kylin, after discovering her diary. His mother died giving birth to him due to extensive mana poisoning that came as a result of her being exposed to toxins so she'd not reveal certain family secrets of House Mavanix. This poisoning extended to Kylin upon birth, forcing him to take daily doses of an ether-like medication for the rest of his life. Kylin grew up under House Mavanix, not realizing until later in his life that he and his father weren't of the Mavanix family at all, but of the Felstar family. He attended private school until his teenage years, when he insisted for a more public life much to his father’s dismay.
His public school life eventually led him to a confrontation with Myra Wes, who saw great talent in the youth and attempted to pry him away from what she perceived an overprotective and dangerous father. Cartius, furious with this, used his power and influence to eventually drive Myra out of Ul'dah before she had a chance to turn his only son against him.
After school, Kylin focused largely on the family business and preparing to take over for his father while still indulging in numerous pleasures presented to him. He went to great lengths to please Cartius, though he felt that he often fell short. One of his assignments was acting as a Premier of the Outer Heaven mercenary organization. Following the organization's battle with the breakaway Mavanix clan, Decretum Umbra, Cartius removed his resources from the organization and allowed it to plunge into disarray. The relationship between Cartius and Kylin began to become strained around this time. Kylin rebelled in various manners as a result. Cartius appeared to be murdered within a couple moons of these events.
After the supposed death of his father, Kylin witnessed the gradual destruction of House Mavanix. Family members perished and house resources were ripped asunder. Eventually, it was revealed that Cartius was in fact alive and responsible for all of the events related to the house's fall (though he set events up to have someone else officially take the fall for the destruction). Cartius revealed himself as a Felstar, not a Mavanix. Overwhelmed at his father still being alive and horrified by the truths revealed about House Mavanix's atrocities against himself and his mother, Kylin sided with his father and joined him in Ishgard with House Felstar, his real family.
Following the tragic events at the 2nd annual Full Cold Moon gala, Cartius quickly ordered all of House Felstar to board their private ship and left Eorzea with a comatose Kylin. Two weeks following Dalamud's impact, Kylin awoke and quickly returned to Eorzea in search of his lover, Gerik Aston. Believing Gerik to be dead, Kylin turned his grief and rage against his father and abandoned House Felstar for almost a full cycle. Elza Ashfen, at the request of Cartius, managed to eventually persuade her brother to return to House Felstar.
Kylin slowly reintegrated himself back into the family after persuading Cartius to return to Ul'dah. Together with his sister and father, he helped to slowly forge a new name for the previously unknown House Felstar in Ul'dah. He also spent the past several cycles in intense training.
Order of the Stormguard
Show text
Kylin joined the Stormguard at a young age approximately 6 years ago for the sole purpose of getting his grasp on the mysterious artifact they guarded. Cartius, via a hired goon, attempted to gain the Stormguard's secrets years prior to this but failed. Kylin thus saw an opportunity to truly prove himself to his father by finishing what he was unable to do. Infiltrating his way into their ranks through manipulation tactics, Kylin sought out and found a Stormguard member. Due to an attack on the Stormguard base, the cultist was dying and sputtering nonsense. Kylin, having slipped past the medics, managed to use the opportunity to procure information about the group's leadership and then used that information to lie his way into the group's center via Keir Loell. As such, the young hyur was initiated into the group and obtained his tattoo, though he was certainly not fond of the tattoo concept at first.
As Kylin grew ever closer to achieving his objective, Keir became increasingly suspicious of him. The two shared increased tension between one another, though Keir remained loyal to Kylin, prompting the hyur himself to return the loyalty and rethink his plan. Seraphine's joining of the Stormguard and her devote loyalty later prompted Kylin to abandon his plans entirely.
The Stormguard would later unravel when Keir left Eorzea following another attack on the group from its mysterious enemies. Several other members of the Guard vanished, though Keir attempted to pick up the pieces of the group prior to his leaving. Ultimately, Seraphine took up Keir's work and tried to salvage the group before she too was attacked and initially believed to be murdered by an unknown assailant. During Seraphine's short reign, she elevated Kylin to High Priest and thus allowed him access to the Stormguard secrets. Grieving over what he believed to be the loss of his sister, Kylin ended up sealing a number of the Stormguard artifacts and tomes in a secret chamber sealed through magic in order to ensure nobody could ever access anything. He continued to carry on his tattoo, though the Stormguard was clearly dead. For now.
Outer Heaven
Show text
Following the Stormguard's first demise (and long prior to Seraphine's supposed death), the mercenary organization known as Outer Heaven was formed by a coalition of nobles. Cartius Mavanix (now Felstar), Rebecca Winter, and Batgroob Dok all came together for the massive project. Through Seraphine, they also recruited Eva Ianeira to round out the group in its entirety. They each led a single "pillar" of the organization which comprised of: Avalon, Rainfall, Lefein, and Arcadia. Avalon oversaw all aspects related to magic, magical training, and artifacts. Rainfall oversaw provision and crafting needs of the group. Lefein oversaw the physical training of the group as well as special operations. Arcadia handled all public and internal relations. Cartius appointed Kylin to oversee Avalon and Rebecca appointed Seraphine to oversee Arcadia. Batgroob and Eva oversaw their own pillars (Lefein and Rainfall, respectively).
A booming success, the organization employed a number of skilled mercenaries. A number of profitable missions were handed out over the six or so moons of the group's existence. During the group's reign, Kylin and Seraphine would come face to face with Decretum Umbra, a powerful and old society that split off from House Mavanix several generations ago and now wanted to reclaim their supposed birthright. In their first battle against seeress Ekidnah Mavanix, Kylin was nearly killed via a magical trap that he unintentionally set off. Shortly after, when Outer Heaven confronted Ekidnah, she revealed Seraphine to be Cartius's daughter, hidden by Rebecca Winter all these years. When Cartius finally learned this truth, he became furious at Rebecca for hiding his daughter from him. Kylin and Seraphine would quickly bond as brother and sister upon this revelation, made easier by their past friendship.
More battles followed, including a battle with magician Marvani Mavanix who trapped the group in a powerful "World of Illusions" spell where everyone had to face their deepest fears in the form of a deadly illusion. Marvani would attempt the spell again later, trying to this time pit the group against one another with his illusions before he was killed by Keir Loell. Ekidnah would later attack the group once more and show them grisly futures each individual would have if they continued on their current path. Tragically, a few of the futures did actually come to pass. Another member of Decretum Umbra, Barbas Mavanix, attacked Cartius at his home only be slain by the powerful house leader. Lemdarva Mavanix, in a last ditch effort, battled Outer Heaven with help from a powerful undead minion only to be killed in battle (or so everyone thought). Immediately after, the group was faced with the creator of Decretum Umbra, Carmilla Mavanix, who nearly destroyed the entire group in her quest to obtain the Soulfire Apparatus artifact from House Mavanix. She was ultimately destroyed by Seraphine thanks to a pendant she obtained from Cartius.
Following Decretum Umbra's fall, Cartius ordered Kylin and Avalon to withdraw from the organization. Outer Heaven began to quickly crumble after this until there was nothing left of it. Kylin became furious at his father for the withdrawal of support and began to rebel against Cartius in a number of ways.
Archavalon
Show text
As Kylin continued to rebel against his father, tragedy would strike. The Mavanix Mansion was attacked by unknown intruders and Cartius was killed in the attack (or so it was setup to look as such). Kylin was devastated and began to quickly regret his rebellion against his father. After the shock wore off, Cartius's will was revealed and named Elza Ashfen, a previously unknown daughter of the patriarch's, the successor to house leadership. Though Elza was reluctant to lead the house at first, she ultimately did so out of respect for her father's last wishes. Kylin bonded quickly with his newly discovered sister, fine with the fact that Cartius didn't leave the responsibilities of the house on him. Elza restructured Avalon and briefly renamed it Archavalon. The noble house's primary arm seemed to be on the right path and Kylin agreed to help Elza in her goals.
What followed was tragedy after tragedy. House Mavanix was slowly ripped asunder from an unknown enemy, each of its resources carefully torn apart and family members massacred one after another. The Mavanix Academy was first to fall after scandals involving its underground labs were revealed. After that, Seraphine was believed to have been murdered, causing Kylin a tremendous amount of grief and nearly nobody to turn to. Margarah, the house's fashion and merchant line, collapsed next after Nina and Kalara Mavanix were killed while on an airship (the Scarlet Seraph). On the same horrific night, almost the entirety of House Mavanix was wiped out during a family meeting. Family members murdered included Balthazor Mavanix, Lavina Mavanix, Synthia Mavanix, as well as the husbands of Nina and Kalara (Cort and William). This effectively left only Kylin, Elza, Ekidnah, and Xaliel as the only Mavanix members left. Kylin became increasingly terrified for his life, still with nobody to turn to for real help. Elza hired mercenaries to protect the family and investigate the tragedies. Mercenaries included Corvus Cinis, Shimmersong, and some freelance mercs (including some from Everwatch).
The Avalon Templars fell next when Vertigo assassinated its leader (Kiba Pargux) in front of the hired mercenaries and deceived them into severing an alliance the house had with GIN (a Goblin Information Network). Ekidnah was murdered next, leaving Kylin increasingly frightened for his future. Finally, the remainder of Archavalon would fall with the destruction of the Mavanix Mansion during a deadly battle with summoned Mavanix spirits. Xaliel Mavanix was also killed during this battle, becoming the final true blooded Mavanix to perish. Kylin ended up being briefly possessed by the spirit of House Mavanix founder, Joachim Mavanix, when the Soulfire Apparatus was activated in this battle due to the manipulations of Vertigo. He was ultimately saved by the mercenaries in Coerthas.
Following this, the group of mercenaries would discover the culprit behind everything: Cartius Felstar. Cartius revealed that he faked his death and orchestrated the fall of House Mavanix as an act of revenge for what the house secretly did to him and his family years ago. Documents were sent to Ul'dahn officials to reveal that Elza and Kylin weren't actually Mavanixs, thus voiding Cartius's previous will. Officials confiscated all remaining property of the Mavanix family, effectively wiping clean all remnants of the house as other nobles purchased the assets put up for auction. Kylin, overcome with relief at his father being alive, joined Cartius and House Felstar in Isghard whereas Elza stole the Scarlet Siren ship from the house and vanished.
Shimmersong
Show text
After the fall of House Mavanix, Kylin applied to join the Shimmersong mercenary company. The hyur felt guilty over the group being manipulated by his father and wished to make amends. Following a difficult barrage of questions from Shara Seleni, Yssen Van, and Ariel Madaellyn, Kylin was eventually allowed into the group, though somewhat reluctantly. Tensions elevated for a bit between Kylin and Ariel/Yssen.
It was around this time that Kylin met Gerik Aston, though the highlander had been involved in recent missions with the Mavanix investigations. The two became close friends almost instantly. As time passed, they grew closer than ever until Kylin was persuaded by his stepmother, Nefron Felstar, to confess his feelings. In a romantic gesture, Kylin arranged a picnic in Gridania and with the help of faithful butler, Reeve, had fireworks set off into the sky directly above the two. Kylin confessed his feelings and kissed Gerik, who returned the kiss and confessed his own feelings. The two, living together in Elza's old Gridanian cabin, began a short-lived and intense relationship. The relationship hit several bumps as a result of Deirdre Ta'ea's indirect (and sometimes direct) intervention.
The second annual Full Cold Moon gala, organized by Nefron Felstar, would be the beginning of the end of this short-lived chapter of Kylin's. Following an initial good time, a meteor slammed into the gala site and caused intense destruction and death in the immediate area. The pressure from the meteor then caused the aether beneath to become chaotic, preventing safe teleportation and ripping the ground asunder before sucking up numerous adventurers in the aether explosion. Kylin was one of the adventurers sucked into the aether and disappeared, believed to be dead by many. In reality, he was teleported out into Coerthas in an unconscious state. Cartius found his comatose son and quickly took him and House Felstar away from Eorzea to escape the ensuing madness. Kylin remained comatose for nearly two moons before awakening and attempting to find Gerik, with no luck. Assuming Gerik dead, and having lost all of his pearls in the gala's chaos, Kylin was left with no choice but to attempt moving on.
Post-Dalamud
Show text
Enraged at his father for taking him away from Eorzea, Kylin disowned Cartius and moved back to Ul'dah after the Dalamud incidents. He remained at an inn room for numerous moons, where he often bedded countless men and women that he picked up from the pubs. Kylin spiraled into a depression of sorts, drinking constantly and living off family money he took with him. He ignored the pleas of his father to return to the family, and even shrugged off numerous approaches from Vertigo and the head servant, Reeve. Eventually, Kylin was approached by his sister Elza, who had been sought after by Cartius and was persuaded to rejoin House Felstar. Overjoyed at Elza being safe and sound after all this time, it took little effort for the sister to nudge Kylin back into the family fold.
Kylin eventually forgave Cartius and began to work in rebuilding House Felstar by taking up various projects. The young man would in time take over numerous excavation projects and exhibit projects for the Avalon Heritage Museum after Cartius reobtained that old asset from the now deceased House Mavanix. He would also move back into the new Felstar Manor in Ul'dah. Elza remained his confidant for awhile before Kylin starting seeing a professional counselor to deal with the still lingering emotional trauma of losing Gerik, Seraphine, and dealing with the destruction of House Mavanix at Cartius's hands.
At some point, Elza set Kylin up with a blind date that turned into a serious relationship. The relationship would turn sour over time, when Kylin's paranoia, jealousy, and manipulations caused it to self-destruct. Depression seized the young man again for a brief time before he began to place all of his attention strictly into work related matters for House Felstar.
Kylin has also spent a significant portion of his down time conducting heavy physical training, while still attempting to keep up with his magical training when he could fit it in. As a result from his extensive training with Vertigo, his physical build has increased noticeably and his skill with swords and daggers has also become significantly better.
A Realm Reborn
Show text
Upon a chance reunion with Gerik during an excavation, Kylin began to slowly become obsessed with his former flame as the fond memories of a better life resurfaced. This obsession began to lead to horrible acts by the young Felstar as he manipulated and schemed to win Gerik back from his new lover, Burgenheim. He first hired Rhio Aldul to be a fake girlfriend of his during a staged double-date with Gerik and Burgenheim. Things continued to spiral out of control when Kylin hired Rhio again, along with pirate captain, Tyriont Gaidal, to fake mug Aysun Demiir while fake rescued her. The plan was to win over Aysun, one of Gerik's friends, so that she'd help get Gerik back for Kylin. The plan backfired though as Aysun began to unravel the plot.
Following this, Kylin masterminded a fake cruise with the help of pirate captain, Tyriont Gaidal. Tyriont would, however, go back on the plan at the last minute and become a cheerleader for Gerik and Burgenheim. This resulted in a near death experience for Burgenheim on the fake cruise when Kylin secretly caused the ship to rock violently when Burgenheim was close to the side of the ship.
Still determined more than ever to win over the presumed love of his life, Kylin continued to plot and scheme by targeting K'aworu Demiir in an attempt to blackmail Aysun and Fenix Darkblaze into getting Gerik back for him. Kylin seduced K'aworu and used their new budding relationship as a weapon to get what he wanted. The plan ultimately failed, and even resulted in a deadly battle between Kylin and the Poet (Razeiel Venaire) that resulted in some moderate damage to the Lost Hope community in Thanalan.
Eventually, Aysun and Fenix persuaded Gerik to confront Kylin and renounce any chance of them being together. This caused Kylin to finally snap and he used his summoning abilities to attempt to slay Fenix and Aysun. Rhio, also being present, took part in the battle outside Ul'dah as well. The end result was Kylin ending up in a coma from both the explosion from his own egi, along with the intense aether poisoning he endured from his long-standing medical condition. Kylin has not been seen since.
Stormguard Reborn
Show text
When Kylin finally awoke from his coma, he underwent intense therapy. Following therapy, Kylin attempted to make amends for his terrible decisions. He first sought out Aysun and Fenix, though made minimal progress in his apology. He also sought out Burgenheim, who shockingly did give forgiveness. Going to Razeiel's manor next, he discovered that the mage had since perished from a disease. He instead obtained forgiveness through an ally of Razeiel. Kylin also approached Camille Everardi to make amends for the actions of his sister, Elza, against Camille. Camille was even offered a new job position at the Avalon Heritage Museum. During this time, Kylin had also met a new ally named S'ereno Tia and had several heartfelt moments with the man until the duo became friends.
Still seeking to make amends for his past, Kylin would by chance stumble across a dying Stormguard member. The event was oddly reminiscent of his first encounter with Stormguard many years past. His encounter with the dying Iyana led Kylin to an old woman in the Silver Bazaar named Cordelia Avadar. Cordelia was an elder member of the Guard and would share with Kylin a number of secrets, and ultimately encouraged him to take up the revival of the dying organization before it was too late. Kylin did just that and ended up recruiting various people to the cause as the organization slowly blossomed into a stable unit that would stand against the mysterious Cabal that continued to assault Stormguard relentlessly.
Over the course of a year, Stormguard would battle against the Cabal and learn its secrets while expanding Stormguard's own base of operations. They reobtained Himlaen, along with a few other relics, established a headquarters, and recruited a host of new recruits to the cause. Eventually, Cartius Felstar issued his own assault against the Guard and gave Kylin an ultimatum: Leave the Guard forever and remain dedicated solely to House Felstar or watch as the Stormguard and House Felstar went to war. Kylin, fearful for the fate of his family and the fate of Stormguard, went along with his father's ultimatum and left the Guard. He vowed to the Highguards that he'd support them again when House Felstar eventually came under his rule.
Kylin now dedicates his full energy to House Felstar and its operations.
While giving a speech outside the Felstar Manor regarding the importance of history preservation, Kylin was assassinated by an unknown assailant. His body was moved to the Felstar Catacombs beneath the manor.
Traits
Skills
Traditional Magic: Kylin's primary specialty is in the magical realm. Hailing from a family well versed in magic for numerous generations, his magical aptitude comes almost naturally.
- Black magic (thaumaturgy): When it comes to combat, Kylin's primary magical skill utilized is that of the black mage's. He is easily able to use destructive elemental magicks without much effort. Despite his mastering of the art, he ofttimes avoids using it.
- White magic (conjury): Kylin has only minor skills in the realm of white magic. His practice of this art focuses largely on the non-healing properties associated with conjury and white magic (such as channeling elemental skills). He is not well versed at all in the medical/healing properties of this art.
- Summoning (arcanist): Kylin's skill at summoning came naturally and grew exponentially compared to his other abilities. Tutored by his Uncle Islude Felstar, this magical skill has easily become his most powerful and refined of them all.
Non-traditional Magic: Armed with knowledge from both the former House Mavanix and newly rising House Felstar, Kylin has maintained a powerful grip on non-traditional magicks that are passed down through his family.
- Astral Projection: Perhaps his greatest magical skill of all, Kylin has practically mastered the art of astral projection. A skill considered very difficult to master, his ability to do so has earned him great respect by fellow mages. The ability allows one to 'project' an astral copy of themselves a certain distance away from their physical body. The more skilled one is, the further the projection can go. The copy usually appears as a bluish colored spectral copy of the caster capable of passing through walls and other objects, though it is possible to make the projection look identical to the caster with enough concentration. The ability has one drawback, however, in that the caster's physical body is left in a near comatose like state for the duration of the spell and is thus considered extremely vulnerable. However, used properly, the ability can allow one to pass to otherwise inaccessible areas and gain information. It is said Kylin often uses the ability in excavations.
- Other: With the help of family tomes, Kylin is capable of various non-traditional spells. These include (but are not limited to) scrying (finding someone using the person's possessions), creation of magical seals/bindings, and various other spells.
Swordplay: While his skill in swordplay (daggers and single-handed blades) pales in comparison to his magical skills, Kylin has increasingly gotten better in this area. He primarily uses close combat as a means of maintaining his new physical shape and is not as skilled in actual combat as Elza or Vertigo. However, he's far from the pushover he once was.
Knowledge: Due to his noble upbringing, Kylin is educated in a variety of topics, though he’s especially knowledgeable on artifacts. This is further enhanced by his job as head overseer of Avalon, the excavation team under House Felstar. Working closely with the Avalon Heritage Museum further enhances this knowledge, along with knowledge about historical, government, and cultist related matters. He's also, of course, highly versed in magical related issues.
Weaknesses: Aside from his lack of skill in physical combat, Kylin has one other fatal weakness when it comes to magic. Due to House Mavanix's atrocities against his mother when he was still in her womb, Kylin is permanently afflicted with a form of mana poisoning. He must take medication regularly to keep it at bay. The poisoning is capable of accelerating at an even quicker pace through extensive prolonged use of magic and the hyur has been known to sometimes push himself so much that he's spent several nights at clinics. Kylin despises his condition enough that it pushes him to prove himself even more in the magical arena. The condition essentially involves his own aether attacking his body, and medication helps prevent this from occurring.
Likes
- Exercise, as to keep in shape.
- Reading. His favorite book, Winds of Ascension, written by Ovram Mendula, is hailed as a literary masterpiece and was even made into a play. The fictional story, based in Eorzea as the setting, follows the adventures of two childhood friends (Luc and Vincent) who end up on different sides in a military conflict. The story's title is representative of an individual's journey to discover one's self through five "winds" that can help on ascending the ladder of self-discovery.
- Ul'dah. He'll always consider it "home."
- The finer things in life (luxury items such as expensive wine, large beds, etc).
- Work. Kylin has lately become a workaholic, devouring most of his time with it.
- Affection. He takes a lot of pleasure in being both wooed with romantic gestures as well as physical touch, even if small in nature like handshakes.
- The warmth of the sun on his skin.
Dislikes
- Competition. While he gets extremely aggressive in anything competitive, it's only because he despises competition and wants to eliminate it from the equation.
- Confrontation. Kylin prefers to handle issues behind the scenes rather than front and center. While he's been involved in occasional physical fights, he prefers to avoid those as well.
- Cold/snow/ice.
- Children.
- Long speeches.
- Disappointing a family member.
Demeanor
Kylin is slightly more extroverted than introverted. While he certainly likes his privacy, he has a deep need and desire to be around others. Furthermore, he has a need to be accepted by others as well. He can sometimes be blunt with others, though he tries to only do so when the person is insignificant to him.
He comes off as charming most of the time but is in actuality quite manipulative. He’s constantly determined to prove himself to his loved ones and does whatever necessary, using whomever necessary, to achieve his goals. Some would call him overconfident, sometimes intimidating, and spoiled to an extent. He's also very easy to make jealous or possessive and can be driven to manipulative actions when he feels threatened in any form. He does however show a great deal of passion and aggression when it comes to reaching a goal.
Kylin mostly swings both ways when it comes to romantic related matters, with a much higher tendency to go for males before females. Females generally have to do a bit more than males to catch Kylin's eye. When it comes to females, he prefers strong-willed, independent, and classy women. Due to growing up without a mother most of his life, these women also need to exhibit motherly tendencies toward others to gain any real attraction from Kylin. When it comes to men, he has a somewhat fatal and near instant attraction to the 'white knight' type of guy. Simply being helpful and generous or defending him in some fashion is often enough to get Kylin's attention. He is most attracted to hyurs, followed by miqo'te, and sometimes elezen. He has no attraction to lalafells or roegadyn, regardless of gender.

Felstar Staff
- Bodyguard/informant: Vertigo is the primary bodyguard and informant for House Felstar and is most often seen in the company of Cartius himself. The miqo'te is never seen in public without a golden mask, allowing her to remain a mystery to potential enemies and thus enabling her to go undercover with ease on various missions by simply removing the mask and dressing differently. Originally brought into the family by chance, Vertigo ended up saving Kylin when he was a child and thus gained the trust and gratitude of Cartius. She has worked for the family since, feeling that it gives her purpose in her life. She often views herself as Kylin's unofficial mother, and the feeling is usually shared with both Kylin and Cartius.
- Butler: Reeve Belacro originally served the Mavanix family for two generations. After the house of Mavanix fell, he joined House Felstar at Kylin's request. As the mansion's head butler, he has access to a plethora of family secrets. His loyalty has never been questioned though. He wouldn't hesitate to bend the truth for the sake of protecting the family, despite his strong moral values. The older hyur is known to be a powerful asset to House Felstar.

Friends
- Elros Ama'yeth: Elros joined Stormguard via S'ereno Tia. While Elros made somewhat subtle flirtations toward Kylin initially, nothing came of it for a couple of full moons. Eventually, the two began dating and then transitioned into a more serious relationship. They are currently no longer together, having been separated as a result of Kylin's previous kidnapping by the Cabal, followed immediately by Elros' own kidnapping by another foe. They have not been reunited.

Gerik's former lover, Kylin at one point detested this man. Burgenheim was the target of numerous plots and manipulations in an attempt to pry the roegadyn away from Gerik, to no avail. Several moons after Kylin finally moved past his obsession with Gerik, he asked Burgenheim's forgiveness and received it. He has not seen the man since.
Due to Aysun's perceived 'meddling' in Kylin's love life, the hyur came to despise the woman with incredible intensity. She was the target of numerous plots and manipulations by the Felstar heir. Their last encounter ended with a bloody battle that nearly killed the both of them. Kylin has since asked her forgiveness months later, but didn't receive it. He has not seen her since.
Due to Fenix's perceived 'meddling' in Kylin's love life, the hyur came to despise the man with incredible intensity. Due to Fenix's relationship with Aysun, he was front and center during Kylin's many manipulations. Their last encounter ended with a bloody battle that nearly killed the both of them. Kylin has since asked for forgiveness, and made minor headway. He has not seen Fenix since.
Kylin met Rhio in a chance encounter at the Bronze Lake hot springs. The two quickly hit it off and Kylin eventually hired her out to feign being his romantic partner during a double-date with Gerik and Burgenheim. The partnership appeared to have done what it was intended to do, and the two parted on good terms. Eventually, as Kylin's plan continued to spiral out of control, the two ended up in battle outside Ul'dah and nearly killed one another.
Kylin's first real romantic relationship was with this upbeat highlander. Their relationship was very short-lived, lasting only a couple moons. Despite the short-lived nature of the relationship, it was quite intense and its abrupt end nearly shattered Kylin. Their relationship ended suddenly 5 years ago at the Full Cold Moon gala when Kylin was struck by an explosion of aether and disappeared, believed to be dead. Kylin later tried to seek out Gerik but had no luck, and assumed his lover to be killed in the Dalamud events. He was recently reunited with the man due to Elza's attempts to romantically bring the two back together, though the reunion didn't go as planned due to Gerik having moved on. Kylin obsessed over his former flame and caused tremendous damage to everyone around them as a result. After nearly being killed as a result of his own manipulations, Kylin finally received months of therapy and got over Gerik enough to move on.
Having met Eva during Outer Heaven's formation, the hyur quickly grew to like the woman. She was always kind to him and yet maintained a seemingly strong-willed persona. They fell out of contact with one another after the mercenary group fell apart, though she eventually gave him a Crystalline pearl. He's had few interactions with Eva since their reunion, though he's become very wary of her in the belief that she's sided with the 'meddlers' trying to keep him and Gerik apart.
Kylin met K'aworu mostly by chance at a tavern and, upon discovering he was Aysun's sister and was not a fan of Fenix, attempted to use the vulnerable miqo'te as leverage in his own schemes. Despite their on-off again brief relationship status, K'aworu is perceived as a powerful ally to Kylin.
