Character

General

Lyfriel has never been part of a proper Seeker of the Sun tribe. Her family lived along the La Noscean coast, but after her mother and sister were claimed by the Calamity, Lyfriel began studying at Mealvaan’s Gate. After two cycles of study, a misadventure at sea left her bereft and alone. She eventually arrived in the Twelveswood, where she met Rhesh’ir Zhwan and numerous companions whom she still travels with. Together, they bested challenges in the Thanalan deserts, the forests of the Shroud, and the vibrant La Noscean isles. Along the way, she fell in love with Rhesh’ir Zhwan, and he, her. They now expect a child, which has brought forward new frustrations and happiness. The Company of adventurers she belongs to has begun to make a name for itself, gaining renown from their numerous exploits.

Appearance

Her face carries traditional Sunseeker markings, as well as a few thin scars. She wears her hair fairly short, and keeps herself generally fit. She has finally come to look like a proper traveler, often bringing her grimoire, her bow, and a quiver full of arrows whenever she departs from a city proper. Her time previously dedicated to hobbyist studies has largely dwindled, in favor of honing what she sees as her most useful talents. That said, it’s the rare occasion that she doesn’t have some scholarly text or another along with her. In the past several moons, she has added a pair of symmetrical marks, one beneath each eye. Though temporary, she seems intent upon applying them every morning.

Behaviour

Lyfriel will most often be seen with a smile on her face, whether it is genuine or forced. She is studious, and speaks with an air of formality, but is prone to occasional teasing when in the company of those she trusts. She is quite prompt in her habits, and no matter where she is, will often rise along with the sun to either practice her archery or groom her chocobo, Noire.

Combat

Lyfriel is a dedicated student of the Arcanum, and is always seeking ways to augment her talents and capabilities. Her grimoire is with her at all times, and is nearly full of personally inked geometries and equations. She is also becoming quite proficient with a bow. None of her talents, however, have made her much of a combatant; she has seen little real fighting, and does what she can to avoid it.

Tendencies

She often jokes that she is becoming more Keeper of the Moon than Seeker of the Sun, but her changes in habit and waking bells would reflect some truth in that sentiment. She spends equal numbers of evening and daylight hours awake and has nearly settled into a routine of sleeping twice per day, to accomodate her new habits. She has also entirely dropped the "Y" tribe designation from her name, when introducing herself. She has not used it for several moons.

Friends & Acquaintances

Rhesh'ir Zhwan:This man has brought Lyfriel more happiness than she ever thought she would attain, in her life. She remains dedicated and wholly in love. She prizes their struggles and successes alike, and would not trade any of it. She trusts him completely, and he remains the sole person with knowledge of certain painful events in her past. Upon recently discovering her pregnancy, her love for Rhesh’ir has only grown—though she does continue to struggle to wrap her head around his Keeper of the Moon tendencies.
Tahla'li Tayuun:A Moonkeeper whom Lyf met shortly after arriving in the Black Shroud. She has watched him struggle against love and hardship, and even in spite of Tahla’li’s clear adoration and pursuit of Rhesh’ir, she maintains her trust in him. She will always welcome his presence and council, and on some subconscious level, she believes she understands the love-borne obstacles that he constantly runs up against.
Dawson Colwell:The hyur conjurer is both a trusted companion and imparter of wisdom. There is little advice Dawson would give that Lyfriel would not listen to. She recognizes his talent in manipulating aether, and senses a difficult past that the man would rather not speak about; something she shares. In the past moon, she has found herself more easily able to approach him, more easily able to relax when in his presence. Previous hesitancy has parted way for new trust; their in La Noscea, particularly when he helped her to lay a friend's remains to rest, has left what is certain to be a long-lasting, caring impression.
Onuma Ahntifi:Would that Lyfriel knew how to navigate their relationship. She continues to see Onuma as someone she can confide in, as no less than a sister, but the revelations concerning Lotan’to’s history, and the rift that it has placed between them, is not so easily repaired, or even realized. It’s in Lyf’s nature to remedy a harsh situation, but in this…she has yet to see a way through it..
Lotan'to Jiub:Her first reaction to Lotan’to’s revelation was anger, but that quickly subsided into sadness. Her instinct is to welcome him back, to rebuild trust from naught but hope; however, experience has revealed her penchant for naïve optimism, and so she stays distant. Lyfriel will repair bridges with Onuma, first, and then do what she can to see Lotan’to’s situation in an objective light.
Kodaro Ba'rococo:Though she's not been able to know Kodaro as well as she likes, she respects him greatly. His dedication to his friends, and especially Tahla'li, after seeing them together, has long since earned him her favor. His prowess and kindness alike have her convinced that he is one of the best things to ever come out of Ul'dah. Out of all the fighters she keeps company with, Lyf would likely number Kodaro among the strongest.
Rah'na Lihzeh:Lyfriel has come to know Rahn’a a great deal more over the past few moons, if only through their traveling together. He is young and frustrated, and Lyf has found herself able to relate to a great deal of it, even if she does think he is the fussiest damned thing she has ever known. She cares a great deal for the boy, and often tries to go out of her way to ensure his safety.
Rinha'li Dhavha:In spite of this Moonkeeper's outwardly meek personality, Lyfriel has a great deal of respect for the potential she sees in him. When he asked her to mentor him in learning the Arcanum, she nearly balked at the request, having considered him her equal. She recognizes his wariness towards unnecessary conflict, and thus often attempts to place herself between Rinha'li and harm.
Ralamano Nulumano:Lyfriel met this Arcanist out of Mealvaan's Gate while with her companions in Ul'dah, participating in a sponsored duel meant to gauge their fighting potential. He has a clear understanding of the Arcanum, and an intriguing curious streak that Lyf admires a great deal. He seems unyielding in his search for knowledge--a hunger that Lyf, herself, wants to know once more. His dedication to their group, even in the short time she has known him, quickly earned her respect.
Oliwat Kokiwat:A spell-slinger and traveler that never fails to pique Lyfriel's curiosity. He is clearly very knowledgeable and thoughtful, having provided Lyf with a few philosophical quandaries in each of their meetings. She wonders if there is more to "the Last of the Rattlepacks" than Oliwat will tell.
Adalhaid Rask:Lyf knows little of Adalhaid Rask, yet enjoys the Hyur woman's company. Her penchant for self-doubt dogs at Lyf's patience, slightly, but she also knows that the doubt is for naught. She has seen Ada's strength, and has seen scenarios where such strength would be the determining factor between success and failure, life and death.
Pipituu Kipichuu:Though she has only spoke with him once, this Lalafell merchant both impressed and surprised her. His generosity, eagerness, and craftiness piqued her interest, and she still wonders at the possibility of accompanying his caravan to Coerthas.
Mijisaa Qisaa:Lyf has met Mijisaa twice now, and on both occasions has found the Lalafell woman quite likeable. Her concern with Lyf's performance during Rhesh'ir's trial--during which she summoned the Ifrit-egi, momentarily--concerns her; the correlation of Lyf's own disdain for this ability and Mijisaa's desire to see it performed again have left a subtle knot of dread within her. That aside, the Lalafell woman's pleasant demeanor has outweighed this anxiety, and Lyf would not object to at least speaking with her on the topic.
Erimmont Leguard:He is (or, was) the Immortal Flames Captain charged with capturing Rhesh'ir Zhwan. While this immediately soured Lyfriel to the man, his subsequent decision to serve as defense at Rhesh'ir's trial opened her eyes to the man's sense of duty. Still, he is quite aloof, and she does not know what to make of him, more often than not. He seems trustworthy, and has taken to traveling with Lyf and her companions. He often flirts mercilessly with Rhesh'ir, and while it frustrates Lyfriel to the core, it will take a great deal more of it before she raises any voice against it.
U'dahsh'a Nuhn:She does not yet know what to think of this Miqo'te. He is clearly a very talented combatant, and resourceful; is it merely her harsh view on Sunseeker men that keeps her distant, or something else? Her trust of him, in many ways, has thinned upon traveling with him to the Vylbrand. His insistence upon using an alias, and his willingness to involve both Lyf and her friends in his own struggles, has tested her patience.
Oriel Durand:She does not yet know what to think of this Miqo'te. Lyfriel has encountered this man only twice, and they barely spoke on either occasion. Still, he seems trustworthy on the surface. Future encounters are certain to allow her to develop a more thorough understanding of him, as he now travels Northward with many of her friends.
Zeraia Reynard:The proprietress of the Eagle & Quill has made a distinct impression with Y’lyfriel. An utterly confident woman with a treasury of knowledge and a mastery of arcane talents, she has unwittingly bolstered a number of Lyf’s own studious whims. In spite of the overall positive impression she’s left, an aura of edge and mystery surrounds her.
N’taeyl Yhash:Clearly a trusted companion of Zeraia, Lyf encountered this quiet Miqo’te woman at the Eagle & Quill. Little could be discerned from her gruff demeanor, and Lyf remains curious about her, more than anything; she wonders if she will encounter her again at the establishment.
Surilian Blu:While Lyfriel was initially warm and welcoming to this Keeper woman, her recent hostility and apparent duality has chilled these feelings. She recognizes a woman in trouble, though, and in spite of hostilities between Surilian and other members of their traveling party, she retains a spot of concern in Lyfriel's heart; she would likely never abandon this Moonkeeper, but it will take quite some time to re-establish any strength of trust, again.
Sthalmoen Merlskyfwyn:Though it's been some time since Lyf has encountered or spoken with Stahl, she thinks fondly of the Roegadyn woman. She has not forgotten, and will not, how the woman came to the party's aid after their encounter with the Amalj'aa and subsequent battle against Ifrit. She still owes Lyfriel a tour of Ul'dah, though, of late, Lyf has seen more of the city than she really cares to.
Nazyl Tharazyl:Lyfriel has met this Lalafell man on a couple of different occasions, and his steadfast, approachable behavior won her trust fairly quickly. He seems genuinely interested in contributing his energy to others' efforts, a trait that she shares, and very much respects. When her traveling party split, and Nazyl joined the larger group heading Northward, to Coerthas, she was thankful that at least one more of their party could be wholly counted on to protect them.
X'linwh Tia: (Deceased) He will always be remembered in an endearing light. He grew on Lyfriel during their travels together, and in spite of the trouble he often got himself into, she respected his deep roots in Seeker culture. He was a good friend to her, and the fact that she was many malms away when he met his death in Coerthas ripped her heart to shreds. She has begun to come to terms with it, and for now, she wears a small marking under each eye--a warrior's mark--in his honour.

Enemies & Rivals

Eloise Redsnarl (NPC):The Hyur charged with prosecuting Rhesh'ir Zhwan on charges of treason, in Ul'dah. Lyfriel knows littls of the woman, other than the fact that she dislikes Eloise immensely. Rhesh'ir's surviving the ordeal has given Lyf a sense of smug superiority, over her.
Raging Sun:The Roegadyn woman tests Lyfriel's patience and resolve at every turn. Though Lyf will readily admit that Sun's penchant for effective violence has usefulness, she still feels the woman is a constant risk to the safety of their tribe, in nearly every encounter. If not for her companions' tolerance, Lyfriel would have urged her cut loose from all further mission.
Martine Law (NPC):A midlander Hyur woman, about the same age as Lyf, who joined Mealvaan's Gate at the same time. While Lyfriel left for adventure and thrills, Martine stayed on. She is currently a successful investigator and inspector at the Gate, who was recently overjoyed at being reunited with her friend.

Rarely Overheard Rumours
"I saw her climbing out of an airship, yesterday. All confidence and swagger, one of those godsdammed huge books tucked under one arm. Looked like she'd had a rough day, but was smiling for it.- Yellowjacket
"She ran past me, t'other day, red in the face, and a welt the size of a La Noscean orange on her cheek. Hope she sought a healer." - Local Fisher
Player Character Rumours
"She believes that if everyone is together that we'll be alright. It's naive, but... endearing." - Rhesh'ir Zhwan
"Lyfriel is everything. She calls me 'her Moon', but in reality, she is the same for me. She is a soft, beautiful light in my life. Only, I don't have to wait until nightfall to see her shining properly~" - Rhesh'ir Zhwan
"She's a strong-spirited girl, and unlike most sunseekers, I find her pleasant to be around. But she has an air of apologeticness about her that I can't shake, and it almost bothers me, to a degree. She works far too hard to please everyone, and her kindness is a double-bladed edge. What will happen when she runs out of resources to give, I wonder? Will she break, or will something new bloom?" - Onuma Ahntifi
"Lyf is our constant, and truly the best friend I've ever had. Without her, the group would surely have drifted apart. I confide in her more than anyone because she has truly earned it." - Dawson Colwell
"Lyf has a good heart. As far as I'm concerned, she's at the center of our little tribe. She works hard--probably too hard--to make it all work, and for that I am grateful." - Dawson Colwell
"Miss Lyfriel is very, very kind. She deals with so much when all of us are together, and yet she's always smiling! Even when Rhesh'ir is being a ..Rude. A rude rude." - Rahn'a Lihzeh
"I can't say she'll cease to surprise me anytime soon; seems she's a swift study with all sorts of subjects. She's even taken to designing her own arcane geometries as of late! I endeavour to emulate her educational eagerness, then maybe one day I'll be as much of an asset to the tribe as she." - Kodaro Ba'rococo
