GENERAL INFORMATION

Lynn'wo Vahnal (Pronunciation: linn-woe-vaahn-ahll), An illusionist by trade and a troublemaker by choice, Lynn'wo is often on the prowl for the next bit of treasure he can find or the next bit of fun he can have. Despite his more selfish qualities, he aspires to be a pillar for those around them, often never turning on the friends who put up with him. He's often not far from exciting, yet dangerous, situations - and, given his job, he certainly finds plenty of them.


APPEARANCE

Lynn'wo, in terms of build, is none too special. He's of above average height with a slim frame. As any basic Miqo'te would, his body is toned with lean muscle more suited for running than fierce, one-on-one combat. Down his right arm (from his perspective) is a long, black tribal tattoo decorated with various small designs such as stars and swirls, the ink seemingly glowing silver against moonlight. Down his left arm was a similar tattoo made of clear ink, with designs not unlike that of the first - but much more varied and far less coordinated. This ink seemed to glow all shades of the rainbow, each tiny marking containing its own unique color. His clothing tends to be frilly, stylish, and (mostly) functional. He's fond of heels, scarves, and coats, and usually prefers tighter pants or leggings. His outfits tend to change quite often, yet most - if not all of them - adhere strictly to the monochrome motif he seems so fond of, one that matches black couerl-spotted ears and snowy white hair. His eyes are a bright silver, and lips a darker shade of his usual pale skin. He often appears quite sleepy, but despite this, is rarely caught without a bright, almost mocking smile. His ears seem to be quite expressive, as is his tail.


PERSONALITY

Mischievous. Curious. Dedicated. Lynn'wo is a playful young man who isn't shy about teasing others. Despite this, he's rarely, if ever, unfriendly to someone, and never means any harm by it. He's still got his naive qualities, but his time in the 81st has wisened him to the threats of the world and how to approach them with a smile smile. Always the optimist, Lynn'wo seeks to encourage his allies with silly banter and even song, if the need arises. He's also quite promiscuous, something those around him often mock, and is often fond of teasing and flirting. Still, he can end up quite blushy when the power dynamic shifts, much to his chagrin.

LIKES

Archery. Lynn'wo has impressive aim, and loves hunting with his bows - and now, guns!

Illusions. He's quite fond of amazing those around him with an impressive sleight of hand.

Smiles. Lynn'wo loves to provoke smiles best he can - and blushes, too!

Sugary sweets. He often keeps various candies on hand to munch on.

Birds. The Keeper is quite found of birds and their ability to fly alike.

String instruments. His soul crystal has evoked a new love for string instruments - specifically the harp and violin.

DISLIKES

Thaumaturgy. He doesn't mind the useful applications, but he finds it cheap when used as a trick for performances.

Poor attitudes. Lynn'wo doesn't enjoy excessive negativity, or threats.

Stubborn attitudes. Lynn'wo distrusts those who try to keep him 'grounded', so to speak. At least, excessively so.

Alcohol. He has no tolerance for booze, nor does he particularly enjoy the taste.

Illusions from others. While he enjoys his own illusions, he has a mild distrust when others perform them!

STRENGTHS

Impressive aim. Having trained with a bow all his life, he has a keen eye.

Extremely agile. Lynn'wo is impressive on his feet - able to move at high speeds and perform impressive acrobatic feats.

Optimist. When all seems to be going to shite, Lynn'wo aspires to keep that smile - for both himself, and those around him.

Tracking He's a wonderful scout, and years of hunting has taught him how to navigate any setting - no matter how confusing.

Quick to learn new concepts. Lynn'wo can easily adapt to new settings and new callings - even without the use of a soul crystal.

Friendly and Caring. There are very few people Lynn'wo won't warm up to and look out for. He loves those in his life dearly, and will protect them.

WEAKNESSES

Showboating. He's a bit of a showoff, and is not the least bit subtle about it.

Selfish. He's grown from this, but at his heart, he's still quite selfish - looking out for himself before others, at times.

Easily distracted. Lynn'wo tries to keep his eyes on the prize, so to speak, but it usually requires a third party to set his sights straight.

Attention hungry. The Keeper is quite starved for attention, and will get a bit bratty if he isn't given it.

Bratty. Depending on the individual, Lynn'wo can behave at times like a proper brat.

Fragile. Lynn'wo can dodge a hit, but should he take one, he's very easy to break and can go down without much trouble.

  • Miko: Usually on his person is his bluebird companion, Miko, who resides in one of the pouches on his belt, having made a tiny little nest in there.

  • Gil/Ammo Pouch: A small silk bag filled with loose ammunition, gil, and even a few tiny smoke bombs shaped like the gold coins. Trickery abound!

  • Triple Triad Cards: A deck of triple triad cards for a game on the go! There are quite a few rare ones, too.

  • Various Sweets: A small silk bag filled with various spice drops, taffies and hard candies - rolanberry being the most abundant flavor, and green apple the last.

  • Potions and poisons: Usually a few health potions, but he also carries a few bags filled with powdered medicines - and poisons, depending on the job.

COMBAT & WEAPONRY

Much like the man himself, Lynn'wo's combat style is flashy and exciting. A lack of aetherical potency is made even with a wide range of tools designed to trick an opponent - smoke bombs, poisons, flashbangs - all provided by his elder brother. His frailty gives him little room for mistakes - which has helped the Keeper develop into the clever trickster he is today. Since he was a child, he's been trained in the use of a bow, and will often turn to archery before all else - striking from the shadows, when possible. He's also trained in the use of knives, and more recently, firearms - though he prefers the former too dangerous at times, and the latter? Simply too noisy, even if it is more fun.


Zephyr

Zephyr is a recurve bow that Lynn'wo has owned since he was a child. As cycles passed, the bow has received revisions and upgrades, now no longer the small wooden bow it once was. Designed with gold accents, a silver polish, and ebony wood, it is the result of many moons of labor by master artisans within the 81st foreign levy, and even contains a small reservoir of the Keeper's own aether. These odd spiritbonding properties allow it to be used as a focus of sorts, able to manipulate the velocity and direction of arrows after being fired in areas heavy with wind aether.

Flight

Flight, like Zephyr, was a weapon owned since childhood by Lynn'wo's older brother, Lynn'li. What started as a small wooden rifle has since been modified into something much more extravagant - an ornate revolver rifle, complete with an eight chamber cylinder and a leather strap for carrying. The design is impeccable, and a true testament to his brother's love for his craft. It's capable of firing all sorts of ammo - regular rounds, incendiary rounds, and even darts. Sparrow now owns it, and uses it nearly as often as his bow these days.

Knives

Sparrow is rarely without knives on his person for self defense, usually concealed within a boot or a sleeve. He doesn't often use them, however, and they merely serve as a last line of defense, should he be cornered or out of ammunition. His favorites are a pair of mythril blades with black metal handles, and red hempen cloth wrapped around blade and grip alike.

Miko

When needed, Lynn'wo can call upon his companion Miko to distract and even attack enemies. Though the small bluebird cannot do much direct damage, she's capable of distracting most enemies long enough for Sparrow to get a good few strikes in. Recently, he's held back on doing this after she was injured.


EXPERIENCE LOG

Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that Lynn'wo has been a part of. Listed only are the ones that have served as a major development for his combat style.


  • The Battle of Castrum Centri : Zephyr. This was one of the first large-scale operations Sparrow was a part of, and helped him develop both the stomach and the skills to fight in massive battles.
  • Ambush at The Silver Grove : Zephyr, Knives. When ambushed by his former tribemates when trying to rescue a friend, Sparrow learned how to make quick decisions, and even lead small groups of people through chaotic combat scenarios.
  • Climbing the Abalathia : Zephyr, Knives, Miko. This fight nearly killed his companion Miko, and was the one that left him wary of using her in such a manner in future encounters.
  • Tarvoth's Fall : Zephyr, Flight, Knives. This was the very first time Sparrow ever used his lyre to boost his allies, and was also one of the first battles in which he properly used his brother's former rifle, Flight.


BACKSTORY

Lynn'wo was born from a union between a mother, Antki of the Kajhir, and his father, Rahn'ir of the Morohvi. As an infant, he found himself instead in the care of his father's mate, Lynn of the Morohvi, and was made to believe he was her seventh son - a fact he did not become aware of until his days with them long passed. His tribe had a reputation for being fierce, brutal, and dangerous - though, among their ranks, he was treated relatively well despite sharing only half their blood, though this was mostly due in part to that very fact being kept secret. He was brought up as a hunter - a rare task for males - and was trained in the use of the bow from his seventh namesday and on. When only eleven cycles old, the brother who'd cared for him more than his mother - Lynn'li - vanished from the tribe. The remaining two cycles were miserable for him, up until a dispute within their ranks forced the tribe to dissolve. When in search of a new place to call home, he was separated from his adopted mother and brothers, and eventually found his way to Ul'dah, finding no solace in Gridania - having been effectively labeled a criminal there.

As a vagrant, he made many connections to stay alive - and even a few friends, some of which he'd later reunite with upon joining the 81st. Trained to run and hide in the shadows, his petty theft would eventually land him in a great deal of trouble - and he was sentenced to be hung, along with many other thieves plaguing the merchant's guild. Be it by fate or luck, the rope meant to kill him snapped, and he managed to escape with a nigh more than a scar around his neck. From then on, he made it his immediate goal to escape this living situation - and a treasure map that carried him to La Noscea would be his ticket out. After moons of saving and performing, he made his way to Vylbrand, where he stumbled upon the 81st on the beach near Costa del Sol. He started to follow them around out of curiosity - which lead to something far greater.

RECENT HISTORY

His time with the 81st has forced him to grow in extraordinary ways. He's learned to work with others, think about himself less, and to stomach the most horrifying of things in the interest of protecting not just those he's close to, but Eorzea as a whole. Finding greater purpose was just what he needed, and upon being reunited with his brother Lynn'li - who'd barely recognized the grown Keeper - it was clear that he wasn't the same person he was only a cycle prior. He's fought evils both old and new, explored distant corners of Eorzea, and met talented and interesting friends.

Currently, he's dedicated his time to the company's workshop to learn how to operate the airship.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She's one of my best friends, even if she is a bit of a brat!"

Miko is Lynn'wo's bluebird companion - one he uses for spotting in the field, and mischief at home. Even if she can be a brat with a bit of a princess syndrome, and even though she's a traitor for loving Nes's shoulder more than his own... and... did she get in the bloody sweets, again!?

Snowfeather, companion. (🔒)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "I've had her as long as I've been with the company. I trust her like I trust 'Ra's couerls."

Snowfeather is a massive white chocobo, breeded in Ishgard and given to him when he first joined the Free Company. She's been his companion since, and despite numerous injuries, and seeing just about every corner of the world, she's remained loyal as ever.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She was simply never there. And to top it all off... she was a liar!"

His adopted mother, Lynn was often preoccupied with tribal duties, leaving the care of Sparrow to his older brothers. Knowing now what sort of wretched things she'd done, he often worries that he'd have ended up the very same monster if it wasn't for the guidance of his older brothers.

Sparrow's Thoughts: "I don't wish death on most... but, to learn he was not a mere scoundrel, but a true monster? The pain he's caused... U hope the couerls took him."

Father to Sparrow, Nesra and Ranirus, Rahn'ir has sired many, but cared for few. The horrid things he's done have only recently come to light to Sparrow, and it has fostered a newfound hatred once more.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: ”He taught me everything I know. I love him dearly, and owe him my life!”

Of Lynn'wo's many brothers, Lynn'li is one of the two directly responsible for raising the young moonkeeper. A machinist by trade and an avid traveler up until an injury that left him without his legs, there was much that this man taught his younger brother. Sparrow's optimism, his smiles, his love of learning and trying new things - they're all directly owed to this man. Before the Kajhirs came into his life, 'Li, as he's affectionately referred to, was some of the only family Sparrow still loved.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: ”He acts fierce, but there's a heart under all that muscle.”

Of Lynn'wo's many brothers, Lynn'ra is one of the two directly responsible for raising the young moonkeeper. A couerl tamer for the Morohvi, he owns two young couerls named Pjotr and Sonja - children of the one couerl that protected the three brothers since childhood. Sparrow's tenacity, his bravery, and his desire to fight for a purpose greater than himself have all come from this man, who speaks few words, but offers plenty of wisdom.

Despite a shaky reunion ripe with stabbings, an attempt on Snowfeather's life and eventually Sparrow's own, Lynn'wo is willing to put the past aside for his friends and family alike - and though there will never truly be a certain trust, he'll do his best to try.

Recently returned to his life, Antki is Sparrow's birth mother. Though she's quiet and reserved, she fascinates the young Keeper, and he desires nothing more than to get to know her better.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "And to think, she was my sister all along. This world is bloody small, isn't it~?"

A skilled weaver, Nesra caught Sparrow's interest from the day he first met her - and then, after a bit of time together, they discovered that they both shared parents. The two are quite inseparable now. Sparrow loves his sister dearly, and would do anything to protect her - be it from threats upon her own life, or threats upon her business. Also, stealing both her candy and shoes has proven to be a fruitful effort!

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "We clearly share in our looks and love of all things explosive~!"

Like Nesra, Rahni was a dear friend before the pair discovered that Lynn'wo was born as a child of the Khajir tribe. Of all his sisters, Lynn'wo finds that he and Rahni are the most similar, sharing in both their combat style and love of illusions!

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "I wish I could have been a better mate for her. It brings me some peace knowing that she's happy, however~!"

Once a friend, and then a mate, the two have had their ups and downs. After life lessons and many, many changes took place, Lynn'wo has found himself regretting how he'd went about things. Upa is easily one of his closest friends, and that trust that he was convinced was lost has returned, along with something more. Upa is, to him, as special as the stars in the night sky, and there's not a bloody thing in the world that could keep him from wanting to be there for her every moment of the day.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She frustrates me to no end, but there must be some good to her~! Upa loves her, after all."

Formerly of the same tribe, Lynn'wo and Wyra have often butted heads - Sparrow preferring a less traditional approach to things, and Wyra the opposite. There's a clear uneasiness to the two that has only grown as of late, but Sparrow does his best to avoid any vocal disdain - for Upa's sake.

Though only friends for a short time, Sparrow has found himself captivated by the Seeker and wishes to know her more. They've planned to hunt together and explore the nature of their weapons, and he hopes in doing so, he'll truly grow to understand who this woman truly is.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "Sure, she'll leave my cheeks rosy more often than not, but I'd count her among my best of friends!"

The two have recently had the chance to properly bond, and Sparrow has truly come to learn that behind that flirty exterior is a wonderfully caring woman - one that brings him comfort, and one he could trust fully with his life. She's got quite a few neat tricks as a shinobi, as well - and he's always eager for surprises!

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "I don't think she properly understands what she means to people. All she's done for me, and she's surprised that I consider her one of my best friends!"

Z'koa has offered Lynn'wo plenty of assistance in the past - be it with his chocobo, or his brother's couerls, or even a shoulder to cry on when he was feeling down. He truly believes her to be a selfless and kind soul, and one he'd protect with his life without a second thought. It also helps that she cooks like no other, too! He eagerly awaits every opportunity to build upon their friendship, and explore those fascinating powers of hers.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "He and his sister have proven to be wonderful friends. His taste in silverware, however..."

Oriel and Lynn'wo have recently taken the time to learn about each other. Having also met the man's sister, Kipih, Sparrow fondly enjoys their time together, and is eager for more of it! Recent treasure hunting has yielded a fair bit of gil for Oriel. Was he lucky, or does he have a keener eye for treasure than the puckish rogue?

Ferai Caolann, one who demands no worry, but causes plenty. (🔒)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "He was one of my best friends. I do hope to see him again someday!"

Travels often part the two, but there is very little stopping them at the end of the day from just sitting down and cracking jokes at each other. Some would find Ferai's past as an anchor to weigh him down, but Lynn'wo firmly believes that the Seeker has adequately used his misfortunes to bring himself up as one of the finest blades he's ever seen - both in skill and looks, of course! Happenings in the Seeker's life often cause Sparrow some worry, but Ferai's recent decision to part from the 81st has calmed most of that. Perhaps he'll finally be able to settle down?

Kikira Kira, with the appearance of a hatchling, but the courage of a couerl. (🔒)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She taught me that size does not determine strength!"

A lady with impeccable fashion sense, a fierce attitude, and the skill to mend any wound. Kikira is evidence that appearances certainly fool - she's a valuable ally and a wonderful friend, and it doesn't hurt that she's responsible for picking out some of the Keeper's finer clothing choices from their various shopping trips~!

Senelle Silverlight, the mother to many. (🔃)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "Her wisdom has helped guide me along the right path. I owe her so much."

Senelle is a much needed motherly figure to Lynn'wo, and the Keeper often seeks her out first when in need of a spot of advice, or merely some company. He considers her among the wisest of his friends, even if that rare temper frightens him some. She's set him straight in a few ways, and he can only hope that he's returned the favor by trying his best to help out and be there for her, especially in the wake of Lyfriel's death. Recent happenings have raised new questions about this woman, and though his trust has faltered somewhat, he knows there are answers to the questions he has!

Keaira Twinning, who has only one eye, but sees the world better than most. (🔒)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She may not be all smiles, but she's one of the friendliest folks you'll ever meet!"

Lynn'wo has recently had the chance to spend some proper time with Twinning in the workshop, and feels he might finally be starting to understand the woman behind the eyepatch. Her love for technology and treasure hunting have certainly found her a quick place as a friend by shared interests alone - to find that they also get along quite well? Well, icing on the cake!

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "He's taught me plenty in these past few suns. For that, I'm thankful~!"

The two have recently gotten a chance to interact more, both working night and day in the workshop on the 81st's vessel, the Sikah. Sparrow admires the man's intelligence, and hopes to pick up on his talent before long.

Rhesh'ir Zhwan, with a smile that you could follow into battle. (🔒$)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "The 81st is a family, and Rhesh'ir has played a large role in it. I'd follow him to the end of Eorzea!"

A captain with charm and a wit to match it. Lynn'wo considers him to be a role model of sorts, even if the captain has taken to the sword over the bow in recent suns. He finds the man to be a true inspiration - one who can handle any situation, and do it with a smile on that gorgeous face.

Onuma Ahntifi, as stern as the shadows themselves, but a dear friend all the same. (🔒)
Sparrow’s Thoughts: "She's certainly tough, but I've learned not to fear her. Despite everything, she's remained a good friend, and I worry dearly for her safety."

The plush toy incident? Never heard of it! Lynn'wo saw a new side to Onuma after recent dealings with Ferai, and he's made plans to speak with her soon! There's a potential friendship here - he just knows it. Of those afflicted by Lyfriel's death, Lynn'wo is worried about Onuma most. So much loss has plagued her recently, and he has a feeling a fruit basket and a few kind words won't do it this time. Perhaps it's time to go plushie shopping. She's recently fallen in a coma, and Sparrow has pledged his support towards finding a means of bringing her back.

Recently, Noor and Nesra have become exceptionally close, and Sparrow is not the least bit worried - to know that his sister is cared for by someone so composed? It's relieving.

This Auri girl has recently made herself known at the 81st's estate, and for good reason - her contraptions are unlike anything Sparrow has ever seen. He eagerly hopes to know her better.

A good friend who he doesn't talk with as much as he'd like, Shoshopu is certainly good with a deck of triple triad cards! He recently met a man with a crush on her, and convinced him to move in on it. Ooo, romance?

The two have recently gotten to know each other better. Despite Fen'rin being on the receiving end of Lynn'wo's teasing and torment, he considers the Roegadyn a great friend and is highly grateful for him helping to eliminate the bellypudge!

During Lynn'wo's vagrancy in Ul'dah, often-spoken were legends of the fabled "Lightfoot" and her uncanny ability to escape the brass blades. Many years later, Lynn'wo was delighted to finally stare in the face the source of these stories! A tender moment between the two has left him with the desire to speak with her further - which he has, and now she's among the closest of his friends. There are feelings he has for her, but the flighty and energetic Seeker might be a bit out of his reach - for now.

Sparrow’s Thoughts: "I'll miss her dearly, and never forget what she did for myself and many others."

Lyfriel's death has finally sunk in with the Keeper. He's avoided tears, mostly, trying to keep his smile for others. Her memory will remain fondly in his heart, and it's safe to say that he will never, in his hopefully long life, forget everything she did. In memory of all she did for him and the company, he's dedicated the rest of his tattoo to her and the 81st, and already has designs set aside for it.

ABOUT THE PLAYER

Hi! Just call me Sparrow. That's not my name, but that's also not wiki-appropriate information! I have a blog here, I'm both a fulltime student and a parttime worker, and I also enjoy other games. For that reason, I might be busy or my mood to do things might shift depending on how busy the day was. Please understand.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND...

I value communication. I have weird things that hurt my feelings, and I'm entitled to those feelings. That being said, you too are also entitled to yours. We can work on our nuances together as RP partners, but communication must be had! Please don't hide your thoughts from me. Trust me, it's better than keeping it bottled. I'm no mind reader.
I can be busy or lack energy. Depending on how the day goes, I might not be as chatty or willing to RP. If that's the case and you still want to, I'll let you know so you don't think you've done anything wrong - but please, don't take it as a personal slight. Sometimes, I just need some space!
I also enjoy PvE content! Sometimes I like to run dungeons, raids, and I also belong to a static group! I try to balance this with RP, but I would love to run things with RP partners when I'm not doing storythings with them!
I have a bit of a strong personality. I try to reel it back, but if you get annoyed with folks who love to be goofy and don't take things too seriously, please don't think it'll change. I'll calm down for some folks, but I like to smile and laugh a lot.
I value OOC friendships. IC is IC, but I do like to chat and nerd out about our characters with my RP partners! If you don't like knowing the person behind the character, we may not be a good fit.


GUIDELINES

I'm pretty relaxed on RP topics - I just require some communication before stuff gets dark or risque. I don't want my character placed in situations I find too stressful to RP without some prior warning.:

I WILL NOT...

Do anything seriously character-altering without consent. I'll need communication if your character has some odd nuance that will significantly alter them, but past that, my characters will never harm, maim or kill another without permission from you.
Permadeath my characters. Please do not ask or try and pressure me. If I have plans for this for my character, I will approach an individual, not the other way around.
RP with my characters constantly being abused. This is a bit of a personal one. I don't want my characters in settings where they will constantly be mocked, mistreated, or generally underlooked. In Sparrow's case, he's a more lighthearted character (though I do explore darker themes), so if your setting will do nothing but end up with him being mistreated, you need not apply. I'm not opposed to roleplaying with meaner characters, of course - but, if everyone in a specific plot/group is going to make things simply unfun, please inform me so nobody wastes their time. I have other characters for those settings.

I WILL...

Darker Themes / Relationships / Smut. I'm not opposed to any of the listed. They're by no means my main focuses, and I do prefer to keep them plot-specific, but I'm not picky at all. I do, however, value a great deal of communication since any of these are highly sensitive for some people.
RP Ingame, on Skype, or anywhere else! Just let me know what you prefer, and I'll do my best to make it work for you.
