For now, long, tribal braids were sacrificed in favour of a short more military cut. Ruby red eyes stand out against dark, earthy skin. Build is lean and muscular. His clothing, however, has become a little more ornate, as a sign of his new path and growing wealth. Rhesh'ir does not mind appearing flamboyant, and even takes some pleasure from it. He can be seen in anything from lounging attire, to dark leathers, to full plate armour.
|

− |
Still, the burn of being treated in such a way left Rhesh'ir feeling spiteful. In an act of defiance, he has led the 81st north to Coerthas, where they began their hunt for the great wyrm, Tarvoth, that slaughtered many, including one of their friends, over a cycle ago. It was their worst defeat, and so Rhesh'ir seeks vengeance on the fallen's behalf. Through missions and jobs, they have gained favour with House Haillenarte, and will likely be able to take to the skies in their very own airships very soon. Unfortunately, Tarvoth's thrall struck again in the Forelands, which lead to the demise of Rhesh'ir's wife, Lyfriel, whom he had just made a life-changing promise to just bells before the attack. | + |
Still, the burn of being treated in such a way left Rhesh'ir feeling spiteful. + | It took several moons for Rhesh'ir to return to any sense of 'normal' after the death of his wife, Y'lyfriel Sikah. Time seemed to press forth in a blur, leaving him lonely, bewildered, and frustrated. After the death of Tarvoth, Rhesh'ir felt a sense of emptiness far greater than he ever felt, and has vowed to never rely on revenge again. This was all too poor timing for such a promise, as a powerful sky pirate and brigand group called the Crimson Lanners set their sights on destroying the 81st multiple times over. Their rivalry has caused more than a few heartbreaks for Rhesh'ir's company, yet they keep hanging on to hope. Several other strange and wonderful occurrences have happened within the life of this Free Company Captain, but the story has yet to fully unfold... | ||

Though the mistakes still ring in his mind, Rhesh'ir can't find it in himself to be upset with Noor over what has happened in the past. Their time together has been tumultuous and confusing, but ultimately, Rhesh'ir enjoys being around her.

| ||

Despite his heartache, Rhesh'ir has been able to recover from the death of his wife rather gracefully, mostly thanks to those closest to him. This does not stop him from missing her terribly. RHESH’IR ZHWAN, (Pronunciation: Resh-EAR Sch-WAN), is a miqo'te of many names and tales. He traveled the Black Shroud, round and round, moving along at early nightfall. In the recent past, he had been the leader of a makeshift band of wanderers without a path. Their adventures lead them from the Shroud, through the desert, to Ul'dah, and elsewhere. Their journeys together do not appear to be stopping anytime soon. With his past behind him, Rhesh'ir can now call himself an 'adventurer', for what it's worth. And now, that makeshift band became something more-- a Free Company. So far, their deeds have proven their strength through adversity, and the Captain only plans to continue that, as best he can.
As the chapter of the vagabond bard came to a close in Rhesh'ir's life, so did his appearance. Somewhat.
Stubborn. Guarded. Loving. Rhesh'ir is personable and flirty, but picky with his company. He does not allow many to get close. His first reaction is always to smile--whether good or bad. Behind the smile are true emotions, but usually they are kept from others that he hasn't yet trusted with his heart. Rhesh'ir does not shy from confrontation, but he usually is the one to end up walking away, especially when he's angry. The miqo'te is also incredibly stubborn and set in his ways about many things and his views of the world. Once an idea is in his head, it is very difficult to convince him otherwise. But it can be done with patience and kindness.
This is a list of the items that Rhesh’ir currently is keeping on his person. Feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in the course of RP, such as pickpocketing, a search, etc. Last Updated: 5/28/17.

This miqo'te is skilled with a bow and dual daggers as he has wielded them since he could barely walk. The Captain is also trained in hand-to-hand combat from his time with the Immortal Flames.
Rhesh'ir Zhwan is the third son of Rhesh Zhwan and Yabi'to Molkot, and the Sixth male Keeper to be born within the Pirarucu Tribe in his generation. Rhesh'ir was born two nonce after his twin brother Rhesh'ra Zhwan. He was raised in a mostly isolated, nomadic tribe that thrived on fishing and hunting game within the Northern Shroud. Their mother was and remained the Matriarch throughout their childhood, garnering them some extra privileges males might have not otherwise afforded, such as learning to read. Rhesh'ir showed early signs of promise and strength, which is coveted in the Keeper and Seeker lifestyles alike. If the Pirarucu had survived, Rhesh'ir would have been betrothed to one of the neighbouring tribes within the clan, as a sign of good faith and continuing friendship. His twin brother, however, never excelled at physical tasks. He was a thinker, a dreamer, and songwriter. Despite this, Rhesh'ir loved his brother fiercely, and they knew each as fully as one person can know the other. Rhesh'ra opened up with Rhesh'ir almost exclusively, and Rhesh'ir showed him kindness that rarely displayed itself elsewhere. Never was there one without the other. For all of Rhesh'ra's thoughtful and kind nature, Rhesh'ir equaled it with a haughty, proud and often-times openly stubborn one. He knew his skill and flaunted it, and thought less of those who didn't--except his brother. Rhesh'ir's cockiness got the pair in trouble several times when they were children, and usually ended with Rhesh'ra being injured, only creating more of a rift between himself and becoming stronger.
As with all the children within the Pirarucu, at age 13, Rhesh'ir and Rhesh'ra had to undertake the task of hunting a specified beast that dwelt somewhere within the Shroud. Rhesh'ir fulfilled his task with ease, but such was not the case for Rhesh'ra. Though he would never tell a soul, Rhesh'ir ended up doing both tasks for the sake of his brother. Though nothing was said, the elders within the tribe most likely knew this. At age 17, everything changed. That summer, a sickness took hold within the Pirarucu. It was mysterious, but swift. Flesh turned sour and fell from the bone; there was nothing to be done. At first, only the elders and children suffered and died, but slowly, the others began to grow ill. By the end of the season, Rhesh Zhwan had died, leaving the miqo'te in disarray. Many stayed and met their fate doing so. Rhesh'ir would have been one of them, had Rhesh'ra not forced his brother to leave with him.
South, through the Shroud and the desert the pair fled. It is unknown why they did not stop to make a home with another miqo'te tribe of the Shroud. Rhesh'ir was hurt and upset with his brother for the majority of the time, thinking that he so easily abandoned his family. However, he still followed Rhesh'ra, nonetheless. Once somewhat over his grief, he realized that they their escape brought about new possibilities and a new way of life--something that Rhesh'ra wanted deeply since he was a child, but never spoke of at all. They arrived in Ul'dah, gil-less. Then, there weren't as many refugees, but two Keeper brothers living in the desert city was a bit of a strange sight. Unsure of what they could offer, Rhesh'ra suggested that they join the Immortal Flames. There they would have to fight, but receive boarding, meals, and whatever else they needed to survive. Rhesh'ir was hesitant, knowing that his brother was no soldier. However, once the recruit agent started talking, Rhesh'ir was in love with the idea, and they both signed up shortly after. As expected, Rhesh'ir excelled in combat. But what was not expected was his ability to lead others well in times of high stress. He was able to keep a cool head during altercations, which lead many of the privates to look to him for help. He fought many battles, and in every one he looked out for both himself and Rhesh'ra. It was during his time in the Flames that he trained heavily in the Monk fighting style, where he learned of chakra and hand-to-hand. Still, his favoured weapon of choice was the bow. It enabled him to keep a sharp eye on his enemies and their surroundings. Rhesh'ir ascended the ranks of the Flames quickly through skill, circumstance and poor assigned leadership. By the time the Garlean invasion was in full effect, he was a Chief Sergeant. Rhesh'ra was never promoted, and remained a Private Third Class for the duration. The week before what would be known as the Battle of Carteneau was a very stressful time for the twins. Up until that point, their time served had been together, as promised, but the Flame higher-ups reworked many of the unit counts when splitting their ranks between the several large battles that were going on at the time. Private Rhesh'ra Zhwan was transferred to another Lieutenant to fight at the gate of Castrum Meridianum, where he met his death. Though enraged and immensely distraught over the death of his brother, Rhesh'ir kept himself busy where he was and tried to think of his men. And there was plenty to do. Before the news of his brother's death, Rhesh'ra's wife, Qhotah Jinjahl contacted Rhesh'ir regarding the fact that she was pregnant with his brother's child. On the eve of Carteneau, Rhesh'ir strongly urged his late brother's wife to inform the Lieutenant and take her leave. She refused. Rhesh'ir could not comprehend the sheer lack of care of her own unborn child before a highly anticipated battle, and forced Qhotah to leave with him that very night. It is a mistake that has haunted him, and will continue to, likely until his own death. The effort was all for naught, however, as Qhotah was very uncooperative. As Dalamud and Bahamut rained their terror from above, she fought Rhesh'ir at every moment. When she left his side, she was incinerated instantly by one of Bahamut's blasts. There was nothing left to save. Rhesh'ir could only watch the horrible battle occur, and for a moment, he thought to run down and return. But something pulled him away that night, and he fled back to the Shroud.
At first, Rhesh'ir doused his grief with alcohol and friendly company. With each drink and each scorned lover, he fell into a deeper and deeper depression. Miserable and alone, he cursed the Flames, and all armies, for their lack of care and compassion. He swore to himself that he would never join anything or anyone ever again, and his anger continued to consume him. It was not until he was stripped of his dignity in the worst way that he decided to change the path he was living. His brother, the child, they were gone. There was nothing he could do, except live and not focus on the guilt. He contemplated Rhesh'ra's kindness and thoughtfulness, and how they used to sing together. At first, he could not think of reasons to sing, nor did he wish to. But he did try. Gathering what pride he had left, he dumped all of it into performing at inns and taverns. Through the joy of others, he found joy in himself. And the scars of his past began to heal, slowly. Though deceased, Rhesh'ir thought of his brother everyday, and tried to emulate him in many respects. His ego gradually lessened (but not vanished, certainly), and a genuine care for people took its place. During his time in the Shroud, he tried to make himself known by his music and smiling face. But even with his new-found peace, he never let anyone in, never allowed closeness. The balance he worked for and obtained was fragile, at best.
The serenity and solemnity of the Shroud did not last, however. Rhesh'ir quite literally ran into people that seemed to enjoy his company. And, surprisingly, he enjoyed theirs too. The more hours he spent with them, the more his lonesome lifestyle faded, much to his dismay. Many things have happened since their chance meetings, but his care for the people he surrounds himself with remains the same. Now that he no longer has to run from the ghosts of his past and those chasing him, Rhesh'ir will make an effort to help those around him and live his life to the fullest as both a leader and a friend.
The Free Company that Rhesh'ir and the others formed both suffered and grew more than anyone could have ever anticipated. The Foreign Levy 81st under the Maelstrom has renown and a reputation for taking on a few of Eorzea's largest foes. Ifrit, Leviathan, and even the Garlean Empire have endured their wrath. With the power of the Echo and a knack for uncanny talent at their side, the Company ever fights forward, helping each other and the less fortunate. In terms of his personal life, the road for Rhesh'ir has been a tough one. He struggles with speaking and trusting his fellow comrades, despite having to lead them into hard battles. While Rhesh'ir would do nearly anything for those closest to him, he struggles in many ways to show it on a day-to-day basis. It left him feeling isolated and alone. During all of these tumultuous feelings, Lyfriel, his mate, also became pregnant and gave birth to their unexpected, yet extremely loved son, Riel'a Zhwan. Since his child's birth, Rhesh'ir has attempted to improve himself for the sake of his family. Reaching out is much harder than he anticipated, and some events have left him feeling burned. But overall, as each day passes, Rhesh'ir finds himself a little happier, as if he is a part of something. His love for Lyfriel has only grown stronger, and after over a cycle, he has agreed to wed to her in the well-known Eorzean ceremony of Eternal Bonding. The bliss of marriage did not last long, as things quickly spiraled in a downward fashion. Not only did his relationship with Lyfriel fail, but after countless successful ventures and missions on behalf of the Grand Companies of Eorzea, the 81st was framed for treason. Rhesh'ir and two of his comrades spent a month in the Maelstrom's gaol, awaiting news of theirs and the Company's fates. Luckily, the 81st came through--the enemy was put down and the Company's charges were cleared.
It took several moons for Rhesh'ir to return to any sense of 'normal' after the death of his wife, Y'lyfriel Sikah.
These are mostly backstory-related relationships.
Listed here are the non-family characters, both PC and NPC, that Rhesh'ir has interacted with enough or in such a way for him to form a real opinion about them. Please don't take personal offense if your character isn't listed here, or how the interaction or relationship is described. It isn't that I dislike your character or our RP. I just tend to only add these as necessary for those who make a real impact on Rhesh'ir, and descriptions are purely based upon in character experiences and opinions! Rhesh’ir is rather easy to seek out, being the Captain of a Free Company with some serious combat history--both positive and negative. Should a character wish to find him, merely stopping by the 81st Estate in the Mist (Ward 6, Plot 30) would usually prove to be eventful. However, if you are wanting a more unique approach, the following would be good options.
Hello! My name is Amy, I'm 31 years old, and I am a seasoned roleplayer, having started all the way back in guilds on Neopets. Yep, that was a thing. I have not played many MMOs, but I have experienced Maplestory, Aion, and Guild Wars 2. I love FFXIV far more than any of those other games, and have been playing it since trying out the PS3 beta before launch.
Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find upsetting. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular:
