Lynn'wo "Sparrow" Vahnal is a young Miqo'te male currently residing in Limsa Lominsa. He was best known as a regular street performer in the city-state of Ul'dah, earning him the nickname "The Silver Sparrow of Ul'dah" for his fascination with monochrome colours and feather motif in his performance garb. He has since adopted this name, and will commonly introduce himself as "Sparrow".

Basic Info

An illusionist by trade and a troublemaker by choice, Lynn'wo is often on the prowl for the next bit of treasure he can find or the next bit of fun he can have. Despite his more selfish qualities, he aspires to be a pillar for those around them, often never turning on the friends who put up with him.

Appearance & Personality

Lynn'wo, in terms of build, is none too special. He's of above average height with a slim frame. As any basic Miqo'te would, his body is toned with lean muscle more suited for running than fierce, one-on-one combat. Down his right arm (from his perspective) was a long, black tribal tattoo. He tends to wear loose fitting, comfortable garb when not on duty with the 81st. Almost all of his clothing adheres to his monochrome motif, complimenting his pale white hair and couerl-spot tipped ears. He was almost never seen without a hat or a collar/choker of some sorts.
Lynn'wo is highly playful and rarely seen without a smile. Often never taking a dangerous situation too seriously, some can mistake him as a slacker. Despite the mid-combat quips, he's highly effective with bow and smallblades and has even taken up the use of firearms and other tools. He's also learned in recent moons how to manipulate aether to some extent to propel projectiles or move a bit quicker.
He's also fairly proficient with illusions, and currently is working on a method of adapting them into a combat setting. A dear friend of his is also teaching him how to play string instruments.
His voice is a bit more on the flamboyant side, with sort of a "posh" accent to it. This was likely a facade, as in moments of high tension or anger, his voice would crack, reverting to a voice more typical of a former Ul'dahn street rat, or even his former tribal accent at times. He also seems to avoid the use of any strong language, and was formerly known to verbally lash out on others for it.

Biography

Childhood
Lynn'wo was born around the year 1554 in the Black Shroud. His early childhood is a distant, lost memory, but records of his tribe are documented and readily available. His tribe wasn't too large, only consisting of seven families, though each was large, all three having seven children. Upon having the seventh child, it was forbidden to have any more - the tribe believed that seven children would bring good luck to all of them, especially to the last. Lynn'wo's tribe believed heavily in the guidance of the stars - they revered them above their typical patron deity, Oschon the Wanderer.
Children in his tribe were known to receive small tattoos of stars in a ceremony that has no real documented explanation. Lynn'wo has two of these tattoos on his right cheek, just below the eye. The tattoos are given with a special ink crafted from moon daisy that glows slightly under moonlight, though this effect can only be seen from up close - after all, a tribe of hunters would be shooting themselves in the foot by doing such a thing given their preference for the darkness of night as a cover.
Lynn'wo's tribe was filled with avid hunters. At age twelve, all children of the tribe were let out for the first time to assist each other in a gathering mission. The leaders would plant a small cache of scavenged candies, and the first group to find them got to keep every single one. This was also the day they were considered adults. They would all receive sleeve tattoos from their left shoulder to the elbow, though these tattoos were not too detailed - they were filled out with time depending on the child completing certain tasks, such as coordinating a group of gatherers on their own or finding any rare materials.
The culture of the tribe was an odd one. Children were held to very high standards at times - cursing was met with a slap and no supper, and the inability to hunt or be of any use to the tribe was met with long, almost cruel hours of training until the child was finally of use.
Rumors, particularly around the Wailers, speak of the horrible atrocities committed by this tribe to their kind. This remains unconfirmed, especially to the general public.
Young Adulthood
Around Lynn'wo turning thirteen his tribe began to fell apart. Internal disputes became more frequent. Eventually, families began to leave, Lynn'wo's being one of the first. As they traveled on to seek a new home in La Noscea, they were ambushed by a pack of jackals. In the chaos of the attack, Lynn'wo slipped away. Lost and without a home, he eventually joined a caravan to Ul'dah. He took up residence there, living mostly in the streets. It was then he began to learn a number of tricks and talents to help him scrape by, though at times he had to turn to stealing to eat. This eventually landed him in deep trouble as a mob formed, nearly causing a great riot around the year 1570. The mob had grown sick of theft and lawlessness in the city and began to take measures into their own hands. A large number of thieves and criminals were hung, Lynn'wo being one of them. Be it by the luck he was claimed to have at birth or by faulty engineering, he managed to escape after the rope snapped, but not until he'd been left with a nasty scar left by the noose around his neck.
Sometime around this, Lynn'wo was adopted by a middle-aged Lalafell couple. They taught him manners, dressed the boy up in fine clothing, and taught him valuable skills such as the ability to play piano and read. They treated him for what he was, however - a street rat in need of being domesticated. Sick of this, Lynn'wo packed his bags with their most valuable belongings and fled the home to return to the streets - now more cultured than before. Upon turning 20 years old, he managed to come upon information of a specific treasure - an Allagan amulet, said to be worth over seven million gil. It was located in La Noscea, however - but this didn't deter the boy. He began saving relentlessly, and three years later, managed to afford a one way airship ticket to Limsa Lominsa.
While wandering La Noscea in search of the treasure he wandered upon a group of folks at the beach. These people turned out to be a friendly bunch - an unnamed free company. Tired and sick of the dangerous life he'd been living, he latched onto them and began to tag along to monitor their activities. Inspired and with a new calling, he signed on to the free company, who he currently resides with at the present day.
Recently, he's come to learn that his mother was truly his adopted mother, and that he was born as a son of a woman from the Khajir tribe, formerly of the Zhana - Antki. He's still coming to terms with this discovery, but with the aid of his two long-lost sisters, he soon hopes to meet his birth mother - perhaps she'd have the answers he seeks.

Magic Tricks

Coin
"The Vanishing Coin"
Lynn'wo manages to make a participant lose a coin - right into his own pocket. A similar, but counterfeit one, is found behind their ear. He has since retired this.
"The Gil Duplication"
Lynn'wo bites a gil coin in half. Using some fancy handwork, he appears to duplicate them into two different coins, both matching the value of the first. If he's performing for tips, he'll usually "split" the value (ex, 20 becomes two 10s), finding that most onlookers let him keep half as their contribution.
Card
"The Triad Deck Clone"
Lynn'wo has an onlooker pick a card from his deck of triple triad cards. Each card in the deck appears to be unique. Upon picking their card, Lynn'wo will give the deck a shuffle and reveal that each unique card has just become a card matching the one the onlooker picked.
"The Card Battle"
Lynn'wo gives the onlooker a deck and allows them to look through it. They're given a clear to shuffle it freely. After that, the onlooker is instructed to draw one card at the same time as Lynn'wo to reveal two matches. This can continue until every card has been drawn. Is easily used to make money off bets.
Other
"The Sliced Apple"
Lynn'wo waves his cape across an apple to make it vanish. With another wave, it reappears, sliced evenly. This is easily accomplished by using the sharp tips of his gloves during the short moment that the apple is hidden. Prone to failure if not practiced actively and if the tips of the gloves end up dulling.
"The Half Empty Glass"
Lynn'wo will take a near-empty glass of any liquid from an onlooker. With a quick wave of his cape, he'll reveal a brand new one that's been completely filled. This one is often used to introduce himself in taverns... and is a simple one, to boot.

Relations

Romantic Interest      Platonic Love      Enigmatic Love      Sexual Interest      Good Standing      Neutral Standing      Poor Standing
Miko (NPC) : Lynn'wo's loyal companion through thick and thin! A small, curious yet highly intelligent bluebird, Miko likes to rest within the pouch of Lynn'wo's belt. The two are developing methods of simple communication. She's also quite fond of mischief, just like her owner. No head is safe from being perched upon by her, either!
Snowfeather (NPC) : A large, snow-white chocobo, Lynn'wo values her dearly and keeps his friend close above all else. Through thick and thin, Snowfeather can be relied on for a quick ride - or an escape, depending on the day's flavor of mischief~!
Lynn'ra Vahnal (NPC) : Lynn'wo's older half brother - a couerl tamer. He's quite the intimidating one to the younger Keeper, but there's respect to be found in such a thing. Lynn'wo partially attributes his skill with smallblades to this man.
Lynn'li Vahnal (NPC) : Lynn'wo's eldest non-hostile half brother. The reason Lynn'wo has learned to always smile, Lynn'li is a constant source of inspiration for the Keeper, and very much one of his best friends. He manufactures all sorts of devices, most of which end up in Lynn'wo's bag for some 'field testing'. He's even taught Lynn'wo how to shoot a firearm - exciting!
Wyra Nimh : Former tribemate. No blood relation despite a similar appearance, apparently - and he'll be quick to mention it! Often conflicting in ideals about carrying on the culture of their former tribe, Lynn'wo considers her stubborn, far too traditional for her own good, and in dire need of someone close to melt that icy exterior. Recently, she's found someone who was at one point very close to the Keeper - and he seems perfectly alright with it! As long as it gets her smiling.
Ranirus Crithalos : Half-brother. Lynn'wo has decided to distance himself from the man and any he holds close in the best interest of avoiding any more violent incidents. After all, one can only take so many scars before it's time to call it quits~!
W'eleneil Bernd : With an attitude as shocking as the strange magicks this fellow archer wields, this courageous and talkative Seeker has worked her way into Lynn'wo's heart over the series of many interesting hunts. They often seek out all sorts of marks together, and Lynn'wo's eldest brother has even offered to teach her how to use a firearm - even if she dislikes them!
Ferai Caolann : Ferai is without a doubt Lynn'wo's best friend. Travels often part the two, but there is very little stopping them at the end of the day from just sitting down and cracking jokes at each other. Some would find Ferai's past as an anchor to weigh him down, but Lynn'wo firmly believes that the Seeker has adequately used his misfortunes to bring himself up as one of the finest blades he's ever seen - both in skill and looks, of course! After remembering a childhood run-in, Lynn'wo has disclosed a secret to Ferai that no other living soul has been given - a rare show of trust that not many see from the sneaky Keeper.
Nesra Kajhir : This fellow Moonkeeper also has a taste in fine fashion, candies, and snowy white hair. All of these turned out to be much more than coincidences when it was discovered that Nesra and Lynn'wo shared both a father and a mother. Now an older brother (for once!), Lynn'wo hopes to be there for his sister, and to protect her from anything that'd seek to harm her in a world that is most unforgiving to those with a caring heart like hers.
Rahni Kajhir : After discovering that Antki was his mother, Rahni turned from a close friend into something more - actual family. The older of his two younger sisters, this one has designed all sorts of baubles and sparkles for Sparrow's costumes. She's got a good head on her shoulders and a great deal of experience out in the world, giving Lynn'wo an easy peace knowing that someone other than himself is looking out for their younger sister. The two spend quite a bit of time together, and he even plans to take her out shooting sometime!
Kikira Kira : A lady with impeccable fashion sense, a fierce attitude, and the skill to mend any wound. Kikira is evidence that appearances certainly fool - she's a valuable ally and a wonderful friend, and it doesn't hurt that she's responsible for picking out some of the Keeper's finer clothing choices from their various shopping trips~!
Upa Zuvhe : Once a friend, and then a mate, the two have had their ups and downs. After life lessons and many, many changes took place, Lynn'wo has found himself regretting how he'd went about things. Upa is easily one of his closest friends, and that trust that he was convinced was lost has returned, along with something more. Upa is, to him, as special as the stars in the night sky, and there's not a bloody thing in the world that could keep him from wanting to be there for her every moment of the day.
Z'koa Rhiki : Z'koa is certainly a fascinating individual, and a good friend of Lynn'wo's - her ability to communicate with animals is something he's never seen, and the way she calmed Snowfeather etched itself into his mind. There's much to learn about her, and he'll not waste a moment getting right to it~!
Oriel Durand : The fellow Keeper recently caught up with Lynn'wo over a lovely, healthy meal of sugary sweets! Such is a quick way into the snowy Keeper's heart, and he hopes to see more of the minty miner out and about in the coming few suns! He's happy to see the fellow Keeper and his older half-brother getting along, and hopes the two end up becoming friends. They probably both need them!
Senelle Silverlight : Senelle is a much needed motherly figure to Lynn'wo, and the Keeper often seeks her out first when in need of a spot of advice, or merely some company. He considers her among the wisest of his friends, even if that rare temper frightens him some. She's set him straight in a few ways, and he can only hope that he's returned the favor by trying his best to help out and be there for her, especially in the wake of Lyfriel's death.
Tahla'li Tayuun : This fiery Keeper is one Lynn'wo is highly fond of. They seem to get along quite well, and their few outings together have netted them in all sorts of trouble - which, to Lynn'wo, translates directly to fun!
S'aerdha Tia : Having known each other for quite a while, S'aerdha has always proven to be a valuable individual for advice on all sorts of subjects! The Keeper wishes they had more time to chat, but they live very busy lives!
Seda'li Tayuun :Lynn'wo has found a good friend in Seda'li in recent moons, and he often looks forward to working with the Keeper. He's even warmed up to Seda'li's foul language - now that's a friendship!
Keaira Twinning : This woman is a sort of mystery to Lynn'wo, but that's simply because he hasn't had the chance to solve it! After all, the two often get distracted, finding that they work well in combat together. Perhaps a little too well. Explosions? Mandatory!
Tertersa_Terin : Much like Kikira, there's a fierce soul and a fascinating mind in that adorable noggin of hers. The work she's done for him has been flawless, and he'll certainly be commissioning her again!
Rinha'li Dhavha : This man is quite the enigma to Lynn'wo, but he feels they could be good friends after a few chats they've had!
Y'lyfriel Sikah (Deceased) : Lyfriel's death came as an absolute shock to the Keeper, one that he isn't quite sure how to cope with as of yet. All the challenges they've faced as part of this big family, only to be taken in the blink of an eye. He sure doesn't feel safe, nor nearly as cocky as he used to, but he'll desperately keep that smile so he can be a pillar for those who need it most right now. In memory of all she did for him and the company, he's dedicated the rest of his tattoo to her and the 81st, and already has designs set aside for it.
Ainle Goldpaw : Not seen overmuch, but their interactions have been quite pleasant! His work on Lynn'wo's bow was unlike anything he'd seen, and he treasures the weapon dearly.
E'liah Tia : E'liah, to Lynn'wo, is a cherished friend. Between watching over his brother during his injuries and teaching him how to use all sorts of string instruments, she continues to plant her roots in his life as one he can always turn to. There are feelings there, but maintaining a wonderful friendship comes first, and so it'll stay just that!
E'lios Nunh : Even if he's reluctant to admit it, Lynn'wo considers E'lios to be a true father figure, and one he'll turn to about anything for advice. Both the Keeper and his eldest brother are assisting the Seeker in furnishing a new coffee shop!
Rhesh'ir Zhwan : A captain with charm and a wit to match it. Lynn'wo considers him to be a role model of sorts, even if the captain has taken to the sword over the bow in recent suns. After Lyfriel's death, Lynn'wo has opted to give the Captain some space, though the sneaky Keeper won't be far for when the family comes back together.
Onuma Ahntifi : The plush toy incident? Never heard of it! Lynn'wo saw a new side to Onuma after recent dealings with Ferai, and he's made plans to speak with her soon! There's a potential friendship here - he just knows it. Of those afflicted by Lyfriel's death, Lynn'wo is worried about Onuma most. So much loss has plagued her recently, and he has a feeling a fruit basket and a few kind words won't do it this time. Perhaps it's time to go plushie shopping.
Noor Falmah : Noor's talents have intrigued Lynn'wo. He hopes to discover more about the nature of her abilities. A recent expedition to Nymian ruins with her yielded a fascinating treasure, one he hopes to explore the secrets of alongside her. She's a smart one, after all!
H'lanah Yhisa : H'lanah and Lynn'wo share in a good number of friends, and despite not interacting often, their rare few chats have proven to be fun! He always appreciates a fellow flirt, and is ready to offer her any advice she might need on that front!
Shoshopu Shopu : A good friend who he doesn't talk with as much as he'd like, Shoshopu is certainly good with a deck of triple triad cards!
Ralamano Nulumano : Ralamano's assistance in registering Lynn'wo as an official Lominsan citizen earned him heavy favor with the Keeper. Safe to say, he's Lynn'wo's go-to guy for all things bureaucratic! Seeing the cool-headed lieutenant in so much pain recently has further pushed the Keeper's desire to close any distance between them and truly get to know the man behind the books.
Khairen Tumet : A master of ear scratches and deepeye hats, Khairen is often the target for the Keeper's pranks. Hey, that just means he likes you, right?
Fen'rin Taveck : Despite teasing the man to no end, Lynn'wo views Fen'rin as a fun individual to be around. He understands and shares in a lot of the man's frustrations, and for that reason, he's elected to lay off of him for the time being. He just wish he'd respect a more traditional approach to medicine - powdered aldgoat bladder is an effective method no matter what he says!
Lihrit Lightfoot : During Lynn'wo's vagrancy in Ul'dah, often-spoken were legends of the fabled "Lightfoot" and her uncanny ability to escape the brass blades. Many years later, Lynn'wo was delighted to finally stare in the face the source of these stories! A tender moment between the two has left him with the desire to speak with her further. If only the two crossed paths more often!
Fyrilsunn Fiandoensyn : Tough, quiet, and stoic, Lynn'wo finds this man to be a perfect target for his pranks. On the battlefield, he's proven to be quite fierce and a reliable ally. When everything goes south, he certainly knows who's back he's hiding behind!
Dawson Colwell : Dawson offered Lynn'wo a chance to weed the company garden, which the Keeper used to swipe Moko Grass. If only he'd just learn to ask!
