Coatleque Crofte (pronounced cottl-ee-kay) is, by her knowledge, the only remaining survivor of her
fishing village from the north. Her life has been hard since the Calamity, but she is slowly working to piece it
back together and raise her station.
General
Coatleque tries to appear and act like a proper lady at all times. She will often be found in and around Ul'dah as she is unable to stray very far due to her duties as a Sultansworn. She is a chronic workaholic, and will almost always be found in uniform. She considers this to be her only proof of station within the city and takes her position very seriously.
While most people around the city can easily see her in the role of a knight, to any true noble it would be blatantly clear that she is not of their blood. While on duty she acts with the utmost respect and exudes the authoritative presence one would expect of the Sultansworn. When off-duty, she will always be dressed well with her hair made up, often with a hat of some sort.
She had been shy in her past as the responsibility of the Gallantry was first laid upon her, but since then she has grown into the position. She is not one to begin a conversation, but she can certainly end one if it is called for. Her speech is slow and practiced unless something has upset or distracted her. In these moments her Ala'Mhigan origins will show through.
Education / Job History
Coatleque did not have any formal education when she arrived in Ul'dah. Being the daughter of a fisherman, she knew how to cook, clean, and gut fish. She spoke with a heavy Ala'Mhighan accent and poorly at that. Due, however, to her circumstances (See Background), she was forced to learn quickly or else she would not have survived.
As of now she is able to read, write, and can speak slowly and eloquently as long as she is focused on her speech. She has basic knowledge of a myriad of useless skills which she had to learn, the more important of those being slight of hand and picking simple locks. Anything more than those of typical shackles would be beyond her skill.
The majority of her formal learning is that of swordplay from her training in the Sultansworn Order. While she was certainly not the best of her class, she did excel quickly at it and earned a few nicknames due to her two-handed fighting style that tended to leave her practice mates with sprained wrists.
Spirituality
A firm believer in the Twelve, Coatleque relies on them for strength and guidance. She sees the work of their hands in all things around her and is baffled by how blind some people can be in their lack of faith. She is not one to push her beliefs on others even as she makes mention of the Twelve frequently through conversations.
In her past, Llymlaen was the patron of her village, being settled on the shores of Gyr'Abania. Some of her people did adopt Rhalgr as most of Ala'Mhigo would. It was through the faith of her friend Sapphire that she began to trust more in Menphina after she was brought to Ul'dah.
Seeing relationship after relationship either fall apart or end with another dead lover, combined with the loss of her close friend Natalie in the Order, she has taken Rhalgr as her patron. Recent events in her life have made her come to realize she cannot maintain a neutral ground where politics and justice collide. Through the blessings of Rhalgr she would hope to bring about the destruction of the plots of evil men against her new home.
Coatleque is also closely tied to Nymeia, goddess of fate, whom she believes will place portents of things to come in the dreams of those whom are destined to change them.
Combat - Views & Behavior
Coatleque has no martial prowess other than that of the sword. She has three blades, but will only carry one at a time depending on her duties for the day. Her main weapon of choice is a large hand-and-a-half sword which she had commissioned for herself using all of her current stipend from the Sultansworn after she swore her Oath. It is the only thing of true worth she owns herself.
Her skill with the sword is every bit of that which one would expect from the Sultana's Elite guard, though she is no grandmaster. Her style is one of mobility and brute force. She focuses on dodging attacks while exploiting openings in defense, and therefore will not favor a shield in combat. It is rumored that a full on hit from her blade when wielded with two hands is enough to split a wooden shield, or shatter the victim's arm if it is metal.
It is just as well that she has no love of combat and views all life as sacred. She very rarely spars with any live opponents, preferring the safety of a training dummy. If drawn into actual combat, she strikes only to disarm and subdue. If she ever lashes out to kill it would be out of fear for the lives of those in her care, or for her own safety.
Healing and Aether - Views & Abilities
While it is true that Coatleque has some minor training in Conjuration, she was never very adept at the concept.
She finds it hard to focus, especially in times of stress, which is not a particularly good trait for someone
attempting to heal others. She does know how to heal and even to raise. The former is very taxing on her, while
the latter will leave her exhausted to the point of being momentarily incapacitated.
Her ability to use aether is otherwise unaffected. Her Paladin training has shown that she is able to channel the
required aether through herself as if it were second nature. Defensive spells and offensive sword skills she can
use with ease. Her difficulty stems from when another person is her target.
Background
There was a time when Coatleque was dead-set against speaking of her own background and life before joining the Sultansworn. Even today she is hesitant to share any details with those she does not know. In her line of work, however, she has found there are times when it helps to share certain details to prove she is no better than the criminals she is forced to deal with. People tend to open up slightly when they see each other on common ground.
Birth and Early Life:
Show text
Coatleque is from a remote fishing village at the Southern tip of Ala'Mhigo, the beaches of Gyr'Abania. Born with the name Florence Fishbane after the empire's invasion, this makes her Garlean by birth alone if not for location. Built on the coast and of little importance, the village eked out a meagre existence far from the city-state itself. She was a typical country girl, the daughter of a fisherman with no special skills or talents. She spent her youth helping her mother cooking, cleaning, and gutting fish for her father. To this day she cannot bear the taste of seafood. When she came of age, her parents began the process of arranging her to be bonded to the miller's son. A quiet life she was honestly looking forward to.
When Dalamund came raining down, a rather large chunk of it fell to the ocean just off the coast of the villiage itself. The resulting tidal wave destroyed the village and swept away a majority of its inhabitants. Those who survived had fled to the old military outpost built into the cliffs just above the shore. Not even a week later, still in mourning, brigands from the mountains came looking to make quick coin off the salvage from the wreckage. Florence watched in horror as her fiancée was killed and cried out which gave away their position. What villagers were left were captured or killed as they tried to flee. She has never forgiven herself for this, which she considers the single greatest mistake of her life.
Enslavement in Ul'dah:
Show text
They were carted off in rags and taken by cover of night to Ul'dah first. The leader of the brigands, Cadmus, was an experienced slaver who knew he could exploit the women and especially Florence for a certain quality she had. She was sold to Dace Korlon, proprietor of the Red Sands - an expensive brothel in one of the less frequented parts of Pearl Lane. There she remained for three long years of forced service as a high-class whore.
She would not have survived her ordeal if not for the kindness of another slave girl, a Miqo'te Seeker called Sapphire due to her deep purple eyes. Sapphire was the longest surviving slave girl at the time and had the Master's favor, being in charge of the other slave girls. She took pity on Florence and often came to her room at night to talk and teach her how to survive. It was Sapphire who gave her the name Coatleque because of her exotic red hair. The purpose being that Florence could pin all the wicked things she had been forced to do on Coatleque, then leave the name behind if the Twelve ever granted her freedom again.
It was Sapphire who taught Coatleque how to read and write, how to speak properly like a lady. How to dress, wear make-up and to look the part. Their clients demanded such from their higher-class girls after all. Sapphire also taught her how to perform simple dances, how to pick locks so they could walk freely at night, and simple tricks of slight-of-hand. The Master expected them to ply their trade to the fullest extent possible, after all, and many a nobleman left with their pockets much lighter than intended.
It was near the end of her imprisonment that Sapphire came to her one night looking very distraught. It seemed she had stolen something from a very influential client. Something she should not have. Despite the Master's insistence that she did well, she feared for her own life and new it was time to leave. Having swiped a key from Dace's room and bribed the guard for the night, she intended to leave and return to her tribe. It was then that she told Coatleque her real name, F'lierre, and the two knew they may never see each other again.
Not one moon after their emotional departure, the Brass Blades descended upon the Red Sands in a false-front raid to 'end slave trafficking'. What Coatleque later found was that F'lierre had stolen a forged signet ring of the house of Ul and the Syndicate was none too happy at its loss. The Blades ransacked the building, set it ablaze, and killed anyone who got in their way. Among the confusion, Coatleque managed to help as many girls as she could escape through the sewers. The next morning many of them saw their first sunrise in years once more as free women.

- Aya Foxheart: "I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who so deserved things to go right for her - its such a shame that they never seem to. I'd do whatever I could for her, I'm lucky to call her a friend!"
- Aya Foxheart: "Ser Crofte never seems to stop. I know she'll always do what's right, but sometimes it seems like she embraces the struggle too readily - she mustn't lose sight of what she's trying to protect. She needs to take time to stop and look around her, and remember the world in which she lives."
- X'Kohu Tia: "Coat's an alright girl, got a good head on her shoulders and a good heart in her chest. Still, if she wants to keep patrolling taverns, she's gotta learn to hold her liquor!"
- Roen Deneith: "I had lost faith in my Shield sisters and brothers. Then Ser Crofte offered me her aid. She reminds me why I swore the Oath in the first place."
- Natalie Mcbeef: "She's not quite as annoying as I first thought. She wears the armor like she was born to do so, I wish I felt as comfortable in it."
- Obsidian Hornet: "All the good intentions in the world don't mean a thing if you don't have the wit or skill to make good on them. Crofte means well but she needs to be better. I trust her, she's a good person, but her incompetence could get people killed. Herself included."
- Alexei Volkov: "The knight? Capable arm, dependable. Seems to be drawing much attention quickly. Good. Let her draw attention, vill continue to vork from shadows."
- Gharen Wolfsong: "She strikes me as an honorable woman, th' type te ne'er go against her word. I hope she's as incorruptible as th' mask she chooses fer everyone te see might indicate, lest th' pit o' vipers tha' is Ul'dah get th' better o' her."
- Fio Arasgain: "One of the few who haven't been corrupted by gil in this cesspool of a city. I can only admire her sense of duty. However, would it kill her to take a day or two off?"
- Franz Renatus: "I kept seeing her in the Quicksand after that one fight I had, but never talked to her. After that event, we've been talking more. She's more interesting than she lets on."
- Berrod Armstrong: "Well she ain't a sellout, I'll tell ya that. I done cat-called her on the street once. Was a real bastard 'bout it. Up ta now she ain't told nobody, and I even got a chance ta tell 'er sorry."
- Remimont Portier: "She appears to possess a remarkable sense of duty and justice both. All of my interactions with her feel as if I am speaking with a character from any number of novels I have read. Tis astounding to meet such a person in the flesh. She is an example, truly."
- Delial Grimsong: "In a way, I feel sorry for her. 'Tis a great and terrible burden being the only shining light in the bitter sea of sheer incompetence that is the Sultansworn. Why do you think I work alone?"
- Askier Mergrey: "She doesn't approve of my explosives. Well I don't approve of her not approving my explosives!"

- Aya Foxheart: "I fear Ser Crofte must find the strength to hold the pillars of Ul'dah; alone, if she must."
- Franz Renatus" "Have you seen her drink before? That girl with a steel will who is the symbol of being fair and just hides something else. I'd like to see it one day."
- Kale Aideron: "Does she bloody smile? I ploughin' bet you I work 'arder than 'er, 'nd even -I- can kick back 'nd relax, least once a seven-day. But yea', fine, I like 'er. Knows what the fuck needs to be done, unlike the latest batch of pansy paladins 'trained' by Captain Jenlyns..."
- Gideon North: "I had at first presumed her to be a woman bound by duty, and of rigid adherence to code. It would be more accurate, I believe, to say that Miss Crofte will hesitate at... very little... to achieve her own ends. One might, however, see that as more respectable than the former."
- Kahn'a Od'hilkas: "By the past I would have admitted it a little hard to go beyond what seems to be an absent-minded penchant, but since then she proved to be... reliable. And yes, she definitely is more than a young figure of righteousness."
- Lilithium Altair: "I see her around all the time! Never spoken much with her though, save when she's kept Ado out of trouble."
- Cyneler Fenrir: "She was my guide to the Sultansworn."

- The Comming Storm:
- Unrest has been growing between the Syndicate and the actions of a small Pirate fleet led by Nero Lazarov. The man has been harassing Ul'dahn trade routes by sea, stifling trade, depriving the rich of their income. Jameson Taeros has been assigned to deal with the issue once and for all.
- Natalie has made her position known to Coatleque, that she would side with Jameson for the good of Ul'dah. She drilled Nero's first mate for information before executing him in the Sultansworn's political prison. Coatleque was not present, and did not know about it until after the fact due to her 'dealing' with her relationship woes at the time.
- Natalie and Taeros both have confronted Coatleque to try and pressure her to join them. The Knight has remained neutral in this to date, seeing it as a political matter rather than one of National Security. She is reluctant to get involved in the man hunt, for Roen's sake more than anything else. Her friendship with Natalie has only been more strained over this turn of events. She may need to chose a side soon.
- After a botched attempt to gather information on Nero, Natalie Mcbeef has been slain. This turn of events has seemingly shaken the city to its core. Coatleque can no longer remain neutral in her dealings now after her involvement in the raid. She awaits both judgement from her Captain, and the ire of Jameson Taeros if he is implicated.
- Captain Jenlyns has proved to be more understanding than Coatleque thought. Her time is, however, short as the Maelstrom will eventually follow the clues back to Ul'dah. She now needs to prove that Nero Lazarov is a threat to both nations so the Admiral will also see the raid as necessary.
- After touching base with her contact Brynnalia, under Taeros's employ, Coatleque begins to make plans to raid the address found at the warehouse and hopefully draw closer to Nero. Jameson once again attempted to buy her loyalty and pressure her to betray her friend Roen. Instead she sacrificed her own dignity, spending the night with Jameson to distract him from the girls trail. She intends now to keep him distracted for as long as she is able to give Roen time to act.
- I'll scratch your back:
- Coatleque's friend Jancis has requested her help in dealing with another friend who is addicted to the drug Somnus.
- The Knight has made a deal with the crime lord C'Kayah to secure a parcel of Somnus for Jancis to experiment with. In return, C'Kayah has asked for Brass Blade immunity for Aya Foxheart. He does not want the woman to be pressured for Momodi's protection money again in the future.
- C'Kayah has made good on his end of the bargain, delivering the required drug to Jancis so that she can work on a cure for withdrawl symptoms. Meanwhile, Coatleque is working with Taeros to acquire the requested immunity for Aya.
- With surprisingly little coaxing, Coatleque was able to bend Taeros's ear. He agreed to pressure the Blades to only deal with Momodi in the future and leave Aya out of their plans. In return, Coatleque has agreed to look for the murderer of Alabrous Tane, who is still at large. She has begun looking for mercenaries who may be able to capture Jaxon Hawke to bring the woman to justice.
- Pillar-Ex, 24-man Raid:
- An unexpected turn of events since Ser Castille returned from Coerthas. It seems he has begun courting his former love once more. Coatleque has been left to compete for his affections against this womans advances.
- Coatleque hatched a scheme to try and invoke Warren's jealousy. She invited a former 'lover', Alabrous Tane, to dinner with her at the Quicksand in hopes he would see them as she had seen he and Seimei. Things went horribly wrong when not only did Warren not show up, but Tane was murdered right in front of her. Coatleque was left standing in shock as her world is seemingly falling apart, and now she has Tane's bar tab to contend with.
- Menphina has chosen to laugh at the Knight once more as Warren pulled her aside and made it known he no longer wishes to be with her. His words were few, cold, and sounded forced, which left her under the impression he did not mean them. She feels powerless to do anything about it, however, and has resigned herself the loser in all of this. She still feels he will only be hurt again in the end.
- Rather than deal with her pain, Coatleque has requested to double her shift at the Palace. She feels if she keeps busy, her feelings will simply go away on their own.
- Coatleque has learned that some of her comrades took it upon themselves to visit harm upon her former lover in a malformed plan to uphold her honour. She has expressed her distaste for this turn of events.
- After Warren's friend Howl and another visited vengeance upon the Sworn who hurt Warren, Coatleque confronted the pair to make her disgust known. Her emotions have become conflicted over the matter, and she has begun to wonder if she ever truly knew Warren from the start. She desperately wants to believe he is a good man, but lately all she sees is violence which appears as a weakness to her.
- Paladinhood, or, To Be a Sultansworn:
- Since pledging her life and blade to the Sultansworn, Coatleque has been taking active guard duty in Ul'dah. A boring start to her career.
- Coatleque's stalwart defense of the innocents of Ul'Dah are beginning to garner her more support from the populace while she is on duty. Her name seems to be rising quickly through word of mouth.
- Faced with an ongoing investigation and internal inquiry, the Sultansworn have been left in an awkward position regarding allegations of corruption. With a need to maintain a show of strength to counteract the Monetarists, Jenlyns has quickly promoted his new rising star to replace the Sergeant he had to dismiss recently. Her orders are to maintain her patrols and be the Sworn's face to the public.
- With the reinstatement of Ser Mcbeef to the Order, Coatleque has attempted to step down from her position so that the former Sergeant may retake her rightful place. Both Mcbeef and Captain Jenlyns were adverse to the notion, however, and so Ser Crofte retains her current rank.
- With the continued absence of Ser Sadowyn, it was decided that Ser Crofte would take her pace as the embodiment of Loyalty during the Trials of the Sultansworn. She will assist Captain Mynheir and Ser Mcbeef in the training of new applicants.
- Ser Sadowyn has returned and taken up her mantle of Captain once more, though Ser Crofte will continue to be in charge of the Trial of Loyalty per Anelia's request.
- Coatleque's attention has since been turned to the Order's latest recruits. Only time will tell if their various temperaments can be moulded into those of proper Paladins.
- With the death of Ser Natlie Mcbeef in action, Coatleque has inherited all of her pending investigations and initiates. The Knight has been feeling the increased weight of responsibility now, and worries she will not be able to compare to Natalie's take-charge personality.
- Coatleque has begun to develop feelings for Jameson Taeros. The more she is forced to work with the man, the more fascinated she become by him. She has even gone so far as to offer herself as a bargaining chip during one of their trades of services. While she tells herself she does this for the good of Ul'dah, a part of her begins to wonder if she desires something more.

- The things we do for Friends...:
- Coatleque and Natalie have continued their investigation into the attempted poisoning of Roen Deneith while she was imprisoned in Ul'dah. They went so far as to question members of the Red Wings, and to enlist their aide in tracking down who may be using their emblem to incite such rumors.
- Natalie has asked permission to contact her former love interest, C'Kayah, to ask for assistance in tracking down where the Somnus may have been purchased. He will not help, however, without an official writ granting him permission to continue importing goods to Ul'dah.
- Roen has since hatched her own plan with the assistance of Nero Lazarov, a smuggler from Limsa Lominsa. They attempted to setup Jameson Taeros with a shipment of Somnus to try and pin him with smuggling contraband, but the Monetarist was already prepared with an alibi to avoid arrest. Roen was clearly upset when Crofte told her they could not arrest the man.
- Coatleque has taken it upon herself to investigate this man that Roen is so intent on working with. She will not stand in Roen's way of tracking down those who intended to kill her, but she also does not want to see the woman betrayed by false friends yet again. While her investigation turned up nothing overly incriminating, she is still keeping a watchful eye over the pair whenever she is able.
- Roen has confessed she has growing feelings for the man, Nero Lazarov. Coatleque expressed her joy for Roen over a private meeting, the last they had within the City. As they parted, however, she could not shake the feeling that Roen would soon face sorrow the likes of which she has not seen before.
- The Shadows of Death's Wings (Episodic):
- Ser Crofte has heard of a mysterious group of people who attacked her shield brethren, Natalie and Kage both. The pair were unharmed, but she has been uneasy since then - especially after the recent unrest in the city.
- Due to her work load pulling her in many different directions, Coatleque was unable to lend further assistance against the Crows. Luckily, Iron Sea had stepped up and led a band of heroes against the Voice to secure the saftey of the city once more.
- Oil and Water:
- Gaspard Howlett, someone who had approached Coatleque while she was on duty, has since provided her with information she requested. After payment, he gave her a counter offer asking for a more permanent role within the city. As this was not something she could offer, she instead brought him to the Red Wings headquarters with the mind that they may be able to use him.
- It was since made known to her exactly what methods Master Howlett employs. She is quickly finding distaste for the man and has written him with requests of an audience to discuss matters before they get out of hand.
- Master Howlett has been absent from the city for quite some time. Coatleque has learned through an intermediary that the man has no immediate interest in returning, having grown a distinct distaste for Ul'dahn politics after recent events.
- The Road to Redemption:
- Having acted against her orders now, Coatleque has submitted a lengthy report to her Captain regarding three disgraced Sultansworn. She is currently waiting reprimand for disobedience, but feels her actions were justified as laid out in her documentation. While two of the three seem to be far past saving, she still holds hope for their third."
- Coatleque went to visit Ser Deneith at her safe house to impart what wisdom she could to the girl, in hopes that she will not succumb to whatever dark thoughts are currently assaulting her. Time will tell if her words carried weight.
- In an effort to draw pressure away from her three comrades, Coatleque has devised a plan to use the evidence that was once their bane to take official responsibility of the entire investigation. What was once used against the three may yet now be used to save them all if she can maneuver around politics correctly.
- Having now been ordered to detain Roen Deneith herself, Coatleque has used the preliminary time given to her to warn Ser Deneith of the situation, and to begin building her case for acquittal. Coatleque now plans to build her case based around deeds versus words to prove Roen is above the reproach of these charges which were levied by a single witness.
- With the reinstatement of Natalie Mcbeef to the order, the pair have been thrust together in a sort of partnership by their Captain. While Ser Crofte is intent on building the case to save Ser Deneith, Ser Mcbeef seems to be more interested in the details of Coatleque's love life.
- After meeting a face from her past she'd rather have forgotten, Coatleque has a meeting arranged to speak with Shaelen about the events at the mine so many months ago. The cost may be high, but she is prepared to do what is necessary for Roen's defense.
- Coatleque met with Jameson Taeros to discuss the recent attempt on Roen's life while she is in prison. She was almost getting somewhere to, until Natalie showed up and the conversation was diverted. She extended another invitation to the man as a courtesy and in hopes she may yet pry more information from him.
- Having compiled all necessesary evidence in Roen's favor, combined with the recanting of Cicero's accustaions, Coatleque made her case before the Captain. Jenlyns was able to throw out the charges against Roen, as well as striking the Nanawa Mines incident from the records of all three involved. Gharen Wolfsong's involvement was also deemed irelevant and the capture and execution order against him was recinded. Coatleque made the formal announcement to Roen as she released her from the gaols and welcomed all three back to the Order should they desire it.
- Lifting Menphina's Curse:
- Coatleque's prior relationships have all fallen apart for one reason or another. She continues to believe herself cursed by the Lover to always be alone. There is one other, however, who may be of like mind. Perhaps too much of like mind, as neither of them have yet to act on it.
- After the stress of recent events, and having almost given her life to fulfill her oath, Coatleque has finally been able to admit to herself that she is ready for a serious relationship. However, upon confessing this to the man she desires, he retorted with a confession of murder. With her expectations shattered once again, Coatleque simply left him standing there with no further words.
- As her nightmares continue to grow steadily worse, Coatleque found herself drawing closer to Ser Castille once more. She was comforted enough by his presence to be able to sleep as he watched over her from the door. On another occasion, he arrived after she had woken from another dream and stayed to read to her. She could no longer deny the effect he was having on her life.
- After another stressful week, Coatleque requested that Warren continue the story he had begun a prior night. He waited in her room as she was kept late with her work, only to surprise her there. After a touchingly awkward moment between the two, they spent the night together as they confessed their love for each other under Menphina's embrace.
- The Thanks I Get:
- After saving a girl's life (Jenzi) from a would be assassin (Briareus) in the Quicksand, Coatleque found herself accosted not two bells later that same night by the same assassin and his target. They both accused Coatleque of signing the contract on the woman's life, a charge she vehemently denied before all present. A riot nearly ensued afterwords as Flames, Blades, and Paladins answered her call for support. Still she stood her ground with the law on her side and the Ishgardian backed down when it was clear she (Coatleque) would not submit to his inquisition. Once the crowd had dispersed, it was made known the barmaid (Aya) may have information. She gave Coatleque the names of three disgraced Sultansworn (Natalie, Kage, Roen) who may have forged no less than sixteen contracts on Jenzi's life, if Briareus's accusations are true.
- Coatleque has been contacted by the assassin once again. Briareus seemed to be after someone he refereed to as Kalas. Before she could react, the man ran off with a comrade. Apparently their quarry had already been caught.
- Some days later, the Knight was contacted and asked to meet with the mysterious Master Zero. The man has requested her aid in the near future, but seems tight lipped on the details. While she is not about to turn away someone in need, she also cannot pledge help to a cause she does not know. She asked him to contact her once there is something he actually needs her to do other than false hope and promises.
- Rumor has it, Briareus is still conducting his investigation, and Coatleque's name has been brought up more than once over the past fortnight, though she has not been approached directly.
- Jenzi Einzig has contact Coatleque to request her aid. In exchange for the odd request of two Sultansworn emblems, Jenzi has agreed to provide Ser Crofte with any information she can overhear while she moves about the city.
- It seems there is now a plot underfoot to summon a primal using a large cache of fire crystals currently held by the Sultansworn. While the Ishgardian Briareus is intent on pressing the matter, Jenzi informs Crofte that the man is bent on some sort of revenge. Coatleque has been caught in the middle without enough information to act against either.
- After yet more heated exchanges, Briareus's hand was forced and he and his assassin attacked the Red Wings's own stronghold. They left Ser Filangeiri for dead, a mistake that would soon catch up to them as the entire organization attempted a confrontation in the city. Briareus fled under pain of death should he ever return to the city.
- Blood in the Sands:
- Coatleque was approached by a pale man in the Quicksand with rumors of poison being distributed to refugees outside the city gate. She followed him to the source only to be ambushed by three voidsent creatures. Despite her efforts, and those of Oscare Iono who had followed her, she was unable to fight off the attack. Suffering a fractured leg, she agreed to go willingly if Oscare was spared. The creatures took her to the mage Austurmax Laforet who, after an additional brief struggle, was able to bind her in one of Jin'li's collars.
- Ordered to 'lay low' in Camp Drybone, Coatleque was mostly absent for a full week, and not present during the first attack against Ul'dah. She did not even learn of the poisoning till a full five suns afterwords.
- Finally having met her 'master', Coatleque learned that she would be used in an assassination attempt against someone of import within the city. All she could do was write warning to Ser Castille and continue to stay hidden in hopes that he would be able to gather allies and prepare.
- The day of the second attack came, and Coatleque found her role to be that of escort for the assassins to the palace. Faced with either breaking her oath and being branded a traitor, or disobeying Jin'li and being killed, she did the only thing possible in that situation and took her own life. Leading the assassins to the foot of the palace stairs, she fell on her sword rather than allowing Jin'li to kill her. This was enough to raise the alarm as the assassins ran past her towards the promenade. Her wound was not instantly fatal, however, and with the timely arrival of Syl Souther and other members of Coral, she was healed and stabilized while the battle raged on the second floor.
- After the failed assassination attempt, Warren Castille found Coatleque leaning against the wall at the bottom of the stairs and was able to remove her collar, disarming the explosive device at the same time. Now free of Jin'li's control, she is able to resume her regular duties.
- While Ser Crofte recovered from her self-inflicted wound, the Red Wings dealt with Jin'li and removed the threat once and for all.
- Harbingers' Leviathon Plot: While the Harbinger's Vanguard fought the Leviathan near the Ilse of Umbra, Coatleque led a successful diversionary move against the Sahaguin to prevent them from interfering with the main assault. Once the beast was felled, she ordered the withdraw to reinforce the company while the wounded were tended to.
- Case of the Missing Pants: Coatleque received a new set of finery as thanks from the famous Otto Vann, fashion designer of Ul'dah.
- Dear Sister:
- It's hard not to get involved in your best friend's love life when everyone else keeps throwing it in your face.
- Taking a passive role in the whole business seems to have paid off, as Jancis's relationship woes have seemingly been smoothed over.
- Career Change:
- With the company slowly falling apart under absent leadership, a change of allegiance has finally been forced. While Coatleque's first liege has always been the Sultana, she worries for the rest of the Harbingers who are now scattered abroad.
- Looking to fill her spare time with yet more work, Coatleque has thrown her blade in with the Sailors of the Coral Sea.
- The Piquant Pumpkin:
- Coatleque accepted a position to provide security at Gus Pumpkinweed's new Cafe during its grand opening.
- Services were once again rendered as security for the Spooky Lightsday at camp Bluefog.
- After a tumultuous conversation with Bartolomeo Filangieri, Coatleque has decided to terminate her volunteer employment at the Pumpkin. She can no longer split her time between official duties, and parading around in a pumpkin uniform, deciding it is ultimately unbefitting of a knight.
- Tension Abounds:
- After sharing some personal 'girl' time with Tasa in the Mist, the pair parted ways with an unexpected kiss.
- An emotional parting of ways occurred as both women decided to move on from the Harbingers. They have promised to keep in touch however possible.
- Some shameless flirting has led to a sudden outburst in public. Has a relationship been strained, or has Coatleque been forced to confront her fears of being hurt?
- Time can heal most wounds. In this case it has drawn the two closer together. Deciding to just see where things lead, Tasa and Coatleque have decided to face their fears together for now.
- Coatleque's position has been keeping her tied up with work more often than not. She worries about the strain this may cause on her 'relationship' and is already convinced things are going to turn downhill. She feels she has been cursed by Menphina herself in this aspect of her life.
- After providing assitance to Ser Warren Castille in Coerthas, Coatleque is feeling rather conflicted as to how she wants her life to proceed from here. It may be time to have a heart-to-heart with Tasa, whom she has not seen in quite some time.
- Tasa has come to Ul'dah to speak with Coatleque about their relationship. While Tasa expressed concern and made her case as to why they should not continue, Coatleque remained distant and emotionless. Her work had taken too much of a toll for her to respond. The two decided to part ways and remain in contact as friends.
